    why is it selfish
i have just paid to have various dinks dents and scratches repaired non of which were caused by me all of which were caused by ba5tards who parked to close and who havent got the guts to own up.
so mother and toddler bays/parking across 2 bays etc is fair game

Put it this way: genuine mother and child go to supermarket to find all bays taken by those not entitled. They then have to struggle to find a space large enough. This usually means parking far away. Do you know how heavy a baby laden car seat is?

Or a pregnant lady needing space but can't get any because you have taken the liberty.

    That's why it's selfish (IMHO)

Don't be a banker, and park considerately but away from others yet.

Park across 2 bays in a busy car park? Expect me to park my shed wing-mirror to wing-mirror with your driver's door. I *WILL* fit in the remaining gap. Don't like it? Park properly and it won't happen.
It's worthy of note I wouldn't do this in a quiet car park, only in one where it's obviously going to inconvenience others if you take up 2 spaces. Taste of your own medicine. :)

Can't stand people who park in parent and child spaces with no children. How about you get out of your selfish bubble, and consider others for once, instead of being a total ****.

And this is someone who rarely goes shopping with kids!

Take note, lazy !!!!!! who park in parent and child / disabled spaces.

As for the person above me trying to reason with 'gardner', from experience people like this just won't listen to an argument if it remotely inconveniences them. Save your breath. :(

I avoid parking next to 4x4s, vans, MPVs, 2 door cars and cars with child seats in them, I generally choose a space away from the crowd, trouble is, often I will return to the car to find that someone in a tatty builders van has parked next to me even though there are tons of empty spaces, it's called sods law.

I had a new car 9 months ago and had to meet a colleague in Norwich asda car park, the car park in question is linked to a sports centre and as such there is a large area of the car park that is NEVER used.

I chose that area , myself and colleague parked with one space between us and no car within about 50 yards in any direction.

when we returned there was still no car within 50 yards EXCEPT the one parked in the space between us....UNBELIEVEABLE but true

i think your the w4nker for you reply you gave...
so i have to park in normal bays and get car damaged by someone who hasnt got the guts to own up
i have tried parking in the remotest area of car parks and as others have stated come back to find car parked inches from mine with damage on one occasion
so forgive me for being selfish but in car parks all spaces are fair game including parking over 2 bays

I allways park as far away from the store entrance as possible in the middle of an empty row if possible, it wind's the wife up a bit having to walk right across the car park, but you can guarantee when you return 9 times out of 10 some tool will have parked along side you car even when there is load's of spaces, i am sure some drivers cannot work out how to park between 2 white lines so they use my car as a parking aid

Also when i go to a multi-storey i allways park on the top floor

I like to park next to brand new cars as they are less likely to fling the door open. And it makes the worried owners write to forums like this. :)

In reality I'm not at all bothered where I park as I've never had any noticeable damage.

This seems reasonable in a car park which isn't at capacity. If you're popping in to the supermarket at an off peak time and you park in one of many vacant mother and child bays, it can hardly be argued that you're being selfish.

If I had a leased car which had to be returned in near mint condition (failing which, large fees would be charged to me) I'd consider this too.
  • Read the car parking conditions which are posted. You could find that it says you are to park within the confines of a bay. Not that they can legally stop you but you could be in for hassloe from the goons.

In the bigger carparks I just leave the car in a quieter spot a little further away from the door, it only adds a matter of seconds to get to the store which isn't an issue for me.

I used to live in a flat which had a small carpark and the car picked up a number of bangs and scrapes from other cars but no-one ever left a note after hitting my car. Hence I always prefer leaving it where it's less likely to get hit by another car.
