Morning everyone. Hoping for some free entertainment at home with the boys today. It was so cold last night I ended up leaving the heating on all night. Not very DFW at all.

Need to sort out my paperwork for the solicitor today, and I'll also have a go at clearing some of my wardrobe out. There's a charity collection coming on Tuesday for the Air Ambulance, which is a very good cause so it's given me the motivation to get rid of a few things that I never/rarely wear.

Need to pop to the shop for bread and milk but it will be a NSD other than what is on my list.

    Have a great day everyone
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

  • Hi yeah i used music magpie, have used them once before a while ago, no problems sofar, stil, waiting payment this time but onky sent them last week so not been waiting long.
  • Well it's snowing here too but not too hard. I don't mind as long as it doesn't make getting to work tomorrow morning treacherous and terrifying...

Today will be a nsd for me, dh has gone into town but just wants to mooch around sans children. He's very good at not buying stuff/ budgeting so i know he won't suddenly spend loads.

    So dfw things:

I've iced the cake I made for my friend at work to take tomorrow
    Food from stores
Just checked bank account, all good, or at least all as it should be!
Ironing, although that's general rather than dfw!
Going to the cinema with my friend later and have bought some popcorn from sains to smuggle in :) usually I just spend a ridiculous amount on buying it there.

    Think that's it for me:D
Full time working mum to 2 boys
DH Stay at home dad :)

Incredibly easy and dead cheap! Three heaped tablespoons of Tesco value porridge oats, two level tablespoons of Tesco value dried skimmed milk and a handful of raisins!

Then just add boiling water and stir :)

Ooh what a good idea! I'll have to try this, thanks :)

to 2013newbie.. did you sell CD's to music magpie? i've got a huge amount of cd's i had considered trimming down a bit.. anyone else use them, worth it or waste of time?

    :p

I have used Music magpie once & found it was very good, they give you the price you'll get for the CD/DVD first so you can decide for yourself if it's worthwhile. We got about £30 for a smallish box of CDs & a handful of DVDs.

    Hi everyone,

    Today I have/will:-
    • B/L from stores
    • Not very DFW but going to the carvery later with the parentals so say a massive thank you to my Dad for laying our kitchen floor tiles & happy birthday to my Mum, so it's still much cheaper than getting someone in to do the tiles!
    • Log calories using free app
    • Check postcode lottery
    • Charged phone via pc
    • Heating off as long as possible & on low when needed
    • Check online banking
    • Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
    • Enter some comps
    • Need to fess up on the GC thread
    • Checked Gumtree
    • Continue reading household diary thread, looks like I'm capable of making my own sheets for my filofax :D So that'll be a few pounds saved! Just need to decide what I need now
    • Decide what to do about phone upgrade having spoken to Mr-Unhelpful at 0range...he was pushing for me to upgrade now & sell my phone back to them in a year & upgrade for a fee, not very DFW though!
    • My Dad is currently grouting the floor tiles :j
    • Checked Topcashback - holiday cashback has tracked so that's a nice £20 saving there!
    • Looked at how much parking will be at Heathrow, a hefty £67  So that'll have to wait until after payday.
    • Listed 4 items on fleabay, fingers crossed they all sell - even if they go for the minimum that's £500 off the credit card!
    • Washing being done at my parents house today as the washing machine can't be put back yet
    • Hang up to dry
    • Make a start on cleaning up if I can, it's a right mess downstairs at the moment!
    • Left hair to dry naturally
    • Bought a few things to fix my bike at a shop where a friend works, so got a nice discount :) Will be able to cycle to work again once the weather gets a bit lighter so a wise investment imo
Hope everyone has a great, MSE day x

I always read this thread but barely post. Today I will/am:

-watching iron lady which I recorded the other night for "free" entertainment (in that regard am thinking of binning sky which will save 21 a month but then I do like a lot of tv and like to watch a proper tv rather than on laptop so am wondering whether I ought to deny myself - it probably means I am more entertained at home than out)

    - possibly make a porridge pot after reading this thread - but may add golden syrup - yum!

    - try to have a no or LSD - tempted to make pancakes in the morning but they require milk and a) means leaving house and it's cold and b) it's £1.08 where I live for 2 pints!

    - cleaning the house so it feels nice to spend time in

    - have wrapped up by putting on pjs, thick socks and a towelling robe so as not to have the heating on. Worried cat might be cold but he has a thick coat (and is quite fat!) and will put a blanket over him if he starts looking uncomfortable

    - reading a load of unread magazines for entertainment - during my cleaning spree I found an unopened (from a previous subscription) copy of Red from jan 2011!
I want to be a writer
  • Hi everyone

I hope you are all enjoying your weekends and managing to stay warm.

Thank you so much for the porridge pots recipe - how fab is that! I have to say it had never occurred to me what was actually in them!

So, here is my list for today:-

    - all food from stores

    - walk dog

    - do ironing

    - catch up on tv and reading

    - stay under blanket to keep warm and keep heating off as long as possible

    - 2 x loads of washing

    - wrap some birthday presents and write the birthday cards for the rest of January

    - look at and update budget

    I think thats everything.

    Enjoy your Sundays!

    Hi gang ,

    Today I've:

:heart2: Worked for 7 hours. :silenced:

:heart2: Covered the car windscreen with an old sunshade so I don't need to use a can of Deicer tomorrow. Someone told me that is you rub the cut side of a potato over your screen it won't freeze but I am skeptical about this...even though this 'tip' is all over the internet.

:heart2: Ate homemade stir-fry rice for packed lunch. Made homemade potato salad for tomorrow's packed lunch.

:heart2: Wrap up warm; it's freezing here. Heating needs to be on!

:heart2: Read news online instead of buying a paper (Yahoo link).
