Sat/Sun 12/13th Jan - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Morning DFW-Jedis old and new.
"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."

I'm thinking seriously today about how on earth I'm gonna clear my debt by the end of this year as planned. I need to do some serious Maths! Last year I paid off £250/month.Theoretically I just need to pay off £200/month this year, but that doesn't allow for any emergencies such as our already ancient car breaking down. I think our household is going to need another source of income. I think I'm going to need to put in overtime and make sure I earn my bonus each quarter. (I work for a bank but forget what you've read about huge bankers' bonuses...for us wee guys they are tiny. This quarter they say we can earn up to £400 each, but I can't guarantee I will earn even £10 of that as a lot of it the payment relies on luck!) Sorry, I've being ranting all week.
So today I'll be:
:cheesy: Going for a long walk for entertainment from our village through the mountain path to another village and then home by train. Train fare paid for with coins I've found on the floor this week. Use free Ordnance Survey Get A Map guest membership for route. Sunny weather this afternoon. (Link)
:cheesy: Read BBC News online instead of buying a paper. (Link)
:cheesy: It has been reported that the average amount of money down the back of a sofa in Britain is £1.61. I'll be doing a coins hunt later. (Link) Found 5p.
:cheesy: Look at joining Morphy Richards Testing Panel through Facebook. Won't join if not spend-free. (Link)
:cheesy: Look at re-joining BzzAgent. They occasionally send you free products to test like food or toiletries. I left cos a lot of the time they were sending me requests to buy things at a discount to test, and I wanted spend-free. Gonna give them another shot as I'm desperate! (Link)
:cheesy: OnePoll
:cheesy: Set-up my PC to bleep when it's fully charged.
Offers for you:
:starmod: Free Huggies Mum & Baby Bundle worth £9.99 when you join Sainsbury's Little Ones baby and toddler club for free. (Link) You need a free Nectar loyalty card. (Link)
:starmod: In today's 55p Star Free Evian redeemable at Londis/Budgens. Not worth buying the paper for this, but worth picking up the paper if someone's abandoned a copy at the station!
:starmod: In today's 80p Daily Express Free Junior Thermal Fleece redeemable at Decathlon.
:starmod: Codes for DailyMail £15+pp holidays, no newspaper purchase necessary. You need to scroll down to The Old Bags post #6. eg. our nearest caravan site, 2 people, 3 nights in April=£30. (Link)

Today I need to
Check bank account, haven't done it for a few days
Check balance on next account, it's not high but need to check
Go to sainsburys to get coue of ingredients at have run out for making cakes, as it's my friend's birthday at work on Monday and I'm going to make her a cake. Think that'll go down much better than a pressie. I already have a card in the supplies.
Ds1 off to a party at 3, that's his tea taken care of
Will batch cook some spag Bol sauce for the boys
Dh is carrying on sorting stuff still from the newe boiler installation (back boiler in lounge ripped out and replaced with new combi in loft so lots of pipe exposing and flooring ripping up was required and we are still not ship shape)
Try new Michael Jackson sing and dance thing for the ps3 move that dh picked up in currys yest for £2.19!!!!!! Ds1 is slightly obsessed with mj at the moment lol :rotfl:
Might check if the car wash is working at our sainsburys (wasn't yesterday) as I have a voucher and my car is filthy!
Happy weekend all!
Other than the few bits from sainsburys that's it!Full time working mum to 2 boys

Morning all!
Planning a busy day today because I've not been able to do anything all week due to "life" getting in the way! Mostly in-house stuff to keep me out of spending trouble!
- [STRIKE]Checked banking[/STRIKE] (still no maintenence from ex
means shopping will be on CC today!)
- Text ex and ask about above
- DD to kickboxing, tie in with [STRIKE]Mr T's shop on way back [/STRIKE]= 1 journey Didn't go to KB. DD doesn't ever want to go but when we get there she loves it, it's becoming such a fight to get her in the car I can't be bothered anymore! It's a shame because she's 4 belts in but it saves me £20 a month plus an argument!
- [STRIKE]Written Mr T's list[/STRIKE] Stuck to aside mini eggs
- HC and on airer to dry
- [STRIKE]Clear out and declutter[/STRIKE]
- Baking for the weeks lunches
- Make porridge pots for my breakfast (so expensive to buy but soooo cheap to make! Just add hot water)
- Clean new (to me) freebie sofa
- Attempt to rehome two tired looking Parker Knoll recliners
- Clean, clean clean this house!!!!!
JxNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Morning all!
ally - thanks for starting the thread off
2013newbie - hello and here's to the nsd :T
clarey_em - yup, I'm another weekend poster!
So yeah, I find it much easier to post at the weekends. Internet gets frowned on a bit in work, even though they say it's fine on your lunch break, no one knows you're on your lunch
That's not to say that I haven't been lurking all week on my phone. It's actually really helpful just reading. You guys help to keep me focussed and sane. Also inspired too
(ally - love your Van Gogh quote)
So my list is a slight catch-up list as well as the weekend ahead
Have decided to earn the £650 required for rent/pay day date move debacle (instead of borrowing from my dad) by hammering the overtime. I have managed 1/3 of it so far :T
OH has passed me the last of the money he owes me for his pedal board so my cc that I cleared is now clear again!
Made a sneaky £10 payment to last cc. only £1440 to go!! *excited*
Have checked online banking every day :A
Had free lunch courtesy of work clients on Wednesday. Also gave OH lunch boxes this week instead of him buying lunch
Got friend at work to try and fix OH's gig speakers. Have not tested yet, but if fixed have saved £50 for new top cab.
Have started crocheting myself some new gloves with wool that mum gave me for Christmas
Expecting a cold snap but will try to keep warm by doing housework instead of putting heating on
Bit of batch cooking if freezer space allows (maybe we should start eating some of the stuff I've cooked? :rotfl:)
Out to dinner tonight with OH, b-i-l and s-i-l. Will try and choose less expensive items on menu. (OH paying, but not technically moneysaving
)
Tried to claim free loo rolls courtesy of Ally's link but could not find how to enter details (lots of ppl posting on the FB page though saying "How do I get my free bog roll then?" :rotfl:)
I'm going to leave it there before I bore you all,
Have a lovely weekend

Afternoon from sunny Thailand.
Same old routine.
Bought a nice office chair at the auction for 400 baht (eight pounds
Bought a batch of books for 300 baht and sold them for 1000 baht to a second hand bookshop in the city centre.
Bought the daily special at Subway a saving of 40 baht on their regular price.
Off to watch the footy tonight live on the big screen at about 10% of the cost I had to pay to attend the matches when I was last in England.
Collected a 1000 baht loan repayment.
Prepared for the two English classes I have to teach tomorrow.0 -
Morning everyone. Thanks ally for starting the thread.
Was snowing here in the Midlands this morning, but its stopped now. I have the boys staying for the weekend, but cant really afford to do much with them. I have promised a McDonalds dinner, but I'll just buy for them and make myself a sandwich at home or beans on toast or something. Helps with my weight loss programme as well as my finances.
Estate agent is coming at 2pm to give me a valuation on the house. I'm seeing the solicitor on Tuesday morning so I'm hoping the estate agent will be able to give me the valuation on Monday in time for that.
Got rid of my first item on freecycle yesterday. It was only a stack of old mugs that were cluttering up a kitchen cupboard, but it felt really good helping somebody else save money too.
Today I have- Checked online banking
- Walked the dog
- Used free toiletries in the shower
- Try to persuade estate agent that the house isn't worth much

- Clean the house
- Meals from stores (apart from the boys McD's)
- Walk the dog x 2
- Free entertainment with the boys - play cards, board games, watch some of the films I recorded over Christmas, that sort of thing. The older ones will no doubt just spend the day on computers or games consoles, but the youngest one likes to play more "old fashioned" (non electronic) games.
- Sort out food cupboards and fridge/freezer
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Hope you have a good day with the boys Karb.
I've also had a really busy week at work and life has got in the way a bit this week. But I did manage 2 NSDs and took lunch every day except the day I get it for free.
So today.....- Took the dog to the park for a good run around and a play with the other dogs
- Been for a quick run for free exercise
- Just about to clean the house
- Food shopping with a list
- Check bank (payday on Tues:j)
- All food from stores
- Walk dog again later
- One load of washing done and drying on the airer
- Put dry washing away
- Maybe go to the cinema later - will book the ticket online to save a few pennies

Morning all

My DFW things for the weekend are as follows:
- managed to find a free parking space this morning in town
- paid in my car tax refund, £70.83 which will make a nice dent in the £100 due for my new car at the end of the month
- printed bank a/c and CC1 statements whilst at the bank
- used Boots scales/BMI machine rather than buying new ones for the home (they're broken and very inaccurate). I may buy some in time, but only after researching first.
- meal planning today, shopping tonight or first thing tomorrow
Have a good one everybody

If they'd settle for a Burger King would these vouchers help?
