sky fibre problems

Got sky fibre installed today. Could not fault the 2 openreach guys who installed it.
When i fired it up i got 25mbps which was slightly disappointing. I have come home tonight and its now
between 3 and 17mbps. The wireless connection is very poor and i have nothing upstairs where it was
fine before on standard broadband with the old router.
Will it get better on its own ?.
I now get an IP conflict warning on my 2 laptops which share the internet connection, what does this mean?.
When i connect with an ethernet cable i see no difference but am not sure that it is using the ethernet cable,
how do i know if its using wired or wireless?.
