Childcare Nightmare!

Hi,

Don't know if help can be offered on this however,

We've had a childminder for around 4 months now who picks up our daughter from school and drops her off at home when we return from work, however she is stopping the childminding now and i thought i had found a good replacement. Unfortunately this lady was just not suitable.

Now i'm stuck, we both work full time (need to) but we have no Childminder! We don't own a car which makes things harder. But not just that i cannot find anyone else that picks up from my daughters school. Can anyone advise on what alternatives we have?

Thanks.

Give your local Family Information Service - https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/fis a call. They should be able to give you the details of childminders who pick up from your daughters school. Else, have a word with the school itself - they may have a list as well. Good luck.
  • Sorry Nickit, but too much information. I realise you need help but this is not the place to be giving private information about your daughter's school. Any chance of asking other parents who they use?

Are there any suitable nurseries locally that do pre school and after school clubs

Is there a family worker (or something similar, they get called different things) at the school who might advise? They will often know childminders etc.

Er, what harm do you think will happen by mentioning the school exactly?

Whilst most people tend to avoid revealing too much on here, I think there is an over abundance of caution sometimes with aliases etc.

One piece of good, solid information can easily lead down a road to others which isn't smart.

Better safe and over abundantly cautious than lax I say.

I disagree with you on the need for caution when posting on the internet.

That aside, this one is a whole different ballgame in terms of what is being revealed.

"Hello, world! I have a daughter who is primary school age.

We (her parents) can't pick her up after school. So we need someone who can collect her from school, and then drop her off at home when we finish work.

We don't have a car, so we're entirely at the mercy of whoever has our daughter to ensure that she gets dropped off.

And we're desperate to find someone who will collect her. So desperate that we have asked all of the anonymous people who read and post on MSE to recommend a complete stranger - who will have the sole care of our daughter between the end of the school day and whenever they're ready to drop her off.

Our daughter attends [name of primary school] in [name of town]"

Jimmy Savile reads these forums and looks for schools for his Charidee work (to advance his case for getting an OBE of course). Oh, wait, JS is dead, so perhaps it is not a real problem.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
