I have an ancient mobile that needs replacing. I would like a phone that has a great camera. I don't need other bangs and whistles. I'd just like to talk, text and take photos.
Any recommendations? It's flippin complicated for a non-techie.

Well, unless you set more clear requirements, this one does everything you want:

£4.95+£10 at CPW on PAYG, but not locked to any network

'great' is a far too vague term.

All modern phones with really good cameras come with "bangs and whistles" as well.
SE C901 and K805 had very good cameras (5Mp though) and still can be bought on ebay and at some other places. No "bangs and whistles".

Well in fairness it has a VGA camera which is the lowest resolution you will find on a phone! But anyway back to the topic in hand......

OP I think you will need to buy a reasonably "hi tech" phone for a comparable camera. How "great" a camera do you want? VGA is the most basic (not suitable for much) and the highest resolution you can get on a phone is 12mp, I think.

3mp is fairly decent and is good enough to blow up photos on your PC or print them out at a standard size.

Hopefully some one should be able to recommend a suitable model. What is your budget?

How about 41? I am not sure if Nokia 808 PureView is available in UK though.

I know, it's not what the OP wants.

The resolution shouldn't be taken as the be all and end all. It's the quality of the lens that's important.....and a good quality flash can make a big difference too.
Don't be taken in by big resolutions, read some reviews, there's plenty out there if you search

Thank you for all the replies. The new Google phone looks interesting, but getting it would be the problem

Nexus 4? Just shell out £400 and it's yours.
Was it not you asking for no "bangs and whistles"? Nexus 4 is one of the most advanced phones around.
