Hi all - looking for some advice if anyone can help.
I seem to spend an awful lot for sky and broadband and feel sure that I can get it cheaper, however I get so confused by all the different packages.
We currently have sky plus in one room and normal sky in another, yes that's right - years ago, before multi room, we rented 2 sky boxes so that we could watch different channels in different rooms. This costs £57.50 a month. Broadband and land line from talk talk, been with them for years costs £30 a month but that includes all local and national calls - only problem is, the ONLY person that calls us on the land line is my MIL - the kids, friends etc either text, call on mobile or we face time. We are not big internet users, one lap top and one i pad and we are both in our fifties and the kids have left home so no down loading and all that stuff that you young uns do lol.
We are both with o2 for mobiles on bil friends and family, however for the right price would consider merging all 3 ifswim.
I am not sure how long I am in contract with talk talk for, I will have to ring and ask, and afaik you can leave sky at any time.
Quite keen to keep sky plus as we find it very useful.
Over to you guys - I hope I have provided you with enough information, if not, ask away.
Thanks in advance for reading and I look forward to you replies:)

What does your current Sky package consist of? Could you itemise the bill.
FYI You don't rent Sky boxes, they are yours. There is no additional charge for Sky +That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks for trying to help, Penryn, I really appreciate it.
Ah, I see re the sky boxes - well we subscribe to sky sports and all the channels except movies and adult channels lol.0 -
Are you saying that you are paying 2 separate subs in one house?? if so, why don't you switch to Multiroom?
Your phone and broadband is absurdlly expensive-are you on some ancient legacy package? if so, update it or switch the services over to Sky and cut a deal with them (since you are a high spender). This assumes that you are on a Sky LLU exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi macman - thanks for the reply. We joined talk talk about 10 or 12 years ago - we were on dial up before then, and as we ran a business from home and were constantly on the phone to customers the free local and national calls were great and we felt that we were getting real value for money, also we got free call to USA and spoke to our daughter regularly, however now we face time her. No longer run a business and the house phone literally rings about 3 times a week and it is ALWAYS mil. I know that we would have to pay line rental if we switched but I really do feel that I am paying over the odds. Again, we had 2 sky boxes about 12 yrs ago, before sky multi room - I guess I could call them and see about swapping.
TBH we are neither of us techy minded, and whenever I have looked into getting a bundle from another provider my brain starts to hurt lol. I have looked on these boards and it seems that 02 do broadband, but do they do telly as well? We have our mobiles with them.
I always try to get the best deals with insurance, food etc., but due to being a right old pair of technophobes I fear that we are paying far more than we need to just because we don't know where to look for a good deal.
I hope all this makes sense, and thanks so much to both of you for reading my diatribe and trying to help0 -
Sky multiroom is a no brainer. It in effect costs £10.50 a month for the full package. Cancel 1 of your contracts and upgrade the other.
Upgrade should bring a new Sky+HD box free (Or fancy 2tb box for £49). You should even be able to negotiate the monthly rate down from £10.25 to £2.50.
You are possibly in the best bargaining position I have heard off.0 -
Oh wow, thank you so much for that. Right, I will ring them tomorrow, and of course let you know the outcome. I will buy you a virtual pint, my friend, in the virtual pub lol0
