Stuck in a lift - advice needed!

Many thanks for the constructive comments. I do hate posting on here because you can guarantee that someone is going to make snide comments - why on earth would you waste your time when someone is genuinely asking for the opinion of others? It was a very small lift, standing room only, one of us has has a heart condition, another had a panic attack and one of the children wet themselves. We didn't just have a nice sit down and play Angry Birds for 3 hours!
I completely agree that this is a generous offer - I was a little suspicious that it was TOO generous! What are they trying to hide?0 -
I would take their generous offer, i fail to see how more money or even any money will make it any easier for the children, only you can help them get over their fear.0

Anyone had a similar experience?
Knock this on the head. They are young children, they go where their parents tell them to! I'm sure there will be a few tears, but with a good diversion (don't remind them what happened before) after a few times they'll have forgotten about it.
It will be far more difficult to tackle this as they get older ...0 -
My sister, 5 year old son and I got stuck in a lift a while ago, whilst looking round a care home. My son was reluctant to go into lifts after that but we managed to persuade him and he's now pretty much forgotten about it I think.
3.5 hours in a lift, in the circumstances you mention sounds pretty horrible. However, not sure what else the shop can do. I'd accept the offer and do my best to move on from it.0 -
They will get in lifts again so not scarred for life, main thing is you are all ok.0

And if they don't get in a lift but use the stairs then the healthy exercise will be a bonus.
Winners all round I think.0 -

well my take on it was that so long as I felt safe (and by that I mean the lift wasn't dropping iyswim) then it would be more the inconvenience of being stuck in a lift that would bug me.....and in fact I often apply would I want to be stuck in a lift with a person.....
As for the compensation could it be that the store recognises that this wasn't a pleasant experience ?
Oh and if you want a nasty lift experience did you see that film of where it appeared that the floor was falling away into the lift shaft....now that I would have hit someone over!2014 Target;

I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

I got trapped in a wheelchair lift earlier this month, up and down it went but would it release me and my chair? Would it hell!
They finally got it to release me at the top and I had to be wheeled through the storage area and out the back of the shop...all this in full view of the other customers in the store.
I thought it was quite a hoot really and another thing to chalk up about my rather new experience of getting about in a wheelchair and the biggest bonus was getting my purchases for free (the grand total of £9.50!)....I was chuffed with that!
Ok, I know it is not the same as being stuck in a box for hours with no way to get out and the feeling you are going to be trapped for ages but £3k? I would grab it!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
