Anyone had a similar experience?
You could always refuse the £3000 and tell them you would prefer they spent the money on mending the lift.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

This. This all day long.
You got trapped in a lift, it's happened to me 3 times. Not so much as an apology. These things happen. You've not really any right to compensation, so to get offered so much? Bite their hand off. And their arm! And be VERY grateful!0 -

Exactly. £3000 is a lot of money, even if it is in vouchers. I wouldn't push it with them either because they might well retract their offer!0 -
That's a very good offer and I would say take it. The last time I was stuck in a lift all we got was free parking as we'd gone over our time!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Wow - What a great job! £500 for 3 hours work! How do I apply?"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

Please tell me which store it was and where abouts in the country....?????
For a £500 voucher I will spend a whole day in the lift!!!0 -
3 and a half hours? I would have ended myself0

I read the thread title and thought the OP was currently trapped in a lift and asking for advice on how to get out.
LittleWonder, the shop's offer is more than generous, take it and just put the whole thing behind you. No-one was injured, the kids will get over their understandable reluctance to get in lifts with a little help from you and your family so just move on.0 -
I too think it is a generous offer. Of course, that assumes no one farted.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

if anyone else gets stuck in a lift in the future for a 3 hours, you would do well to think of the lawyer in this story!
