    none the wiser

from the beginning, what you should have done is

    using a pc or laptop

reset the router for 10 seconds using the pin

login to the router config screen on a pc/laptop, using admin and no password

set the wpa password in the wireless settings and save, for examples sake, lets imagine the wireless password is elephant

if done correctly, to connect to the router wirlessly from this point, you should need the password which is elephant and depending on what model of phone/laptop may have to tell it which encryption setting you chose, eg wep/wpa/wpa2 aes/tkip etc.

When I try to log in with my phone using the password on the log in box i.e. the one which has 'admin' in the username box.

that's the wrong password - the password with username admin is to log into the router, not to connect to the wifi element... you need to log into the router interface and change the wifi SSID and password, and also change the wifi security to WEP or the Wii won't connect to it.

I have logged in to the router and after clicking on the 'wireless' button have go a page which reads:
Network ID (SSID): shows the name I have given the network
    Channel: 6
Security: I have changed to WEP
Authentication type: gives a choice of three - Open System, Shared Key or Both (which do I use?)
    WEP Encrypton: 64Bit
    Key Mode: HEX
WEP: this gives spaces in which to enter 4 different keys.
    Beneath this it just tells you - Input 10 HEX characters (0 - 9, A-F or a-f)

Are these correct? And, what do I put in the space(s) next to WEP key(s)

Thank you so much for helping me - as you can probably tell I am completely tech illiterate.

use wpa or wpa2, shared key

It's my Samsung Galaxy Ace I'm trying to connect to the wireless router - and, if I get this sorted, my sons XBox 360. I do have a Wii but haven't tried connecting that.

My Wii connects just fine with WPA2 with encryption set to "TKIP or AES"
How do I add a signature?
