The incoming payment probably shows the "Reference" specified.

If I send a Faster Payment to (another current account of) myself saying "CHAPS TO ME" in the reference, it will show up with exactly those 3 words in my statement. I never made any CHAPS payment though. As a customer, you cannot normally tell how the money was sent to you.

keyser666, glad to hear your sister got her money from the agency, even if there was a bit of panic involved and you are now left with sorting out your emergency payment. Is it possible that there was a misunderstanding between your sister and her agency? Quite unusual for anyone to pay a salary/wages by CHAPS.

Bottom line: it's either the agency who said they'd send the payment by CHAPS and then they didn't, or your sister misunderstanding what the agency said, or the agency saying one thing and then doing another, or CardOne saying they don't accept CHAPS in their T&Cs and then accepting a CHAPS. You'll probably never find out....may be CardOne can tell your sister how the money was sent but not sure it's worth pursuing.

Thanks, I have asked and it does say the reference but nothing as yet in terms of how it was made. Deffo a chaps payment as she has an email regarding wither BACS or CHAPS payments and the fact one is free and the other is CHAPS. He payment is minus the £25 fee that she invoiced too.

I'd never heard of CardOne, but I've now had a brief look at their website and I can see they are not a bank, so they certainly won't be able to receive CHAPS payments directly. However, they also state that customers money is held in a NatWest client account, and NatWest certainly can receive CHAPS, so it may be that the money could have got there that way.

I hope your sister is managing her money well in order to inprove her credit record, as it makes no sense to have an account of this type if you have any chance of getting even a basic account with a real bank.
Thanks agrinnall, unfortunately the result of a DV issue over years, the girls done good now.

I have said to her to wait a few more days as it normally shows up then exactly how it was received
