Not sure if it's related to this, but i don't get the engaged tone but a really bad static noise, I don't get the cost waring message either it just connects and i get through no problem. (18185 btw)

    Anyone else had this?

I have just used the phone and was asked to enter my phone number then I was connected. No message about 0p per minute so I hung (as I was ringing British Gas to see why I have not got my on line electric bill had the gas one last week) as you can sit on the phone for up to 20mins.
I'll ring after 6pm with talk talk as I am using a geographical number so that call will be FREE:rotfl:
    YouGov :) £50.....2/09/09

  • I don't get the cost waring message

As I understand it, you hear the cost message whilst the phone is ringing at the other end. As most people take at least one ring to answer the phone, most of the time this works fine. However, if the number you're calling is one where you're connected straight away (albeit to a message telling you how important your call is :) ) then you don't hear the cost message.

If you experience an engaged tone after dialling your 'prefix and number, it usually means that your local exchange line is busy to the area you are dialling. Try again after ten minutes or so and you should get through. As with all things 'avoid the rush hour' if you can!! If you do not hear the "Zero pence per minute" warning, you have either not selected it on the web page when you joined up or you have routed via your phone line provider. A good tip is to; dial the 'prefix' and number-hang up and press redial-it seems to work better and get you through quicker (without any pauses) when doing this.
