Wedding Car Prices – What does it cost?

Options
Hi All,

I am looking for a place to find decent Wedding Car Hire prices, we have been quoted for well lets just say a very high number but I am on a very tight budget £200 - £300, I am hoping posting here may give me a better wider search area or at least point me in the right direction.

So I guess the question is does anyone know where I can go and get both a good price but quality cars?

  • depends what kind of car you are after and how long you need it for.
When we were looking, some of the prices were high. We ended up paying about £450-500ish for ours although there was quite a lot driving as wedding was in londond and reception was in west sussex (yes, a romatic M25 journey was part of our day).

For that kind of price you may be able to get a newer car - say a mercedes or something but maybe not something vintage.

Depends on a lot though, do you know any family friends who have classic cars? My friend new someone with a classic car and he drove them for the day.
  • If you are looking for the best way to save on wedding car hire you need to hire a vehicle that is based near where the venue will be as if you hire a car from any distance away, they will need to charge you for travel time and petrol money etc. There are some good wedding car hire search portals out there that you can serch and compare prices for the best deal and you can find these by typing into google 'wedding cars'.
  • unusual first post...

When you add the W word into costs they tend to spiral, we costed up the wedding cars and I checked as an alternative the main car hire sites and checked what luxury barges they had.

We went with Hertz and got a Jag XF for two days, one day for the wedding and the second as a little treat for my father in law in exchange for driving on the wedding day.
Total price was £200 after finding a voucher online, add in a bot of ribbon and it was great.
  • Cost of cars is generally based on
    a) Amount of time you need it for
    b) Distance you want them to drive
    c) What you tell them it is for

Our wedding car was a bit different:

(ok its a model of it not the actual one we used but tbh, the actual thing was in even better condition)

Ours had to drive from eastern Essex to Kent, drive my bride from Kent to west London, 2 hours driving around London between the ceremony and the reception. Our total was about 7 hours.

Total price was £450 inc £50 that was an introducer fee to the site I found the car on but it was an ultra last minute thing and so may have gotten a discount for that (probably would have gotten more of a discount as our photographer has since hired the car several times for photo shoots - he is a fashion photographer that does weddings on the side).

Shop around is the key. Those that heavily promote weddings charge wedding rates

We hired a black cab (one of the proper old ones) for the day. £180 for the entire day in 2001, and he drove back and forth from the venue to pick up stragglers too. Lovely bloke.

Honestly, the point about the W word is right. The instant you mention it, prices go up. Tell people you are doing something for your parent's 70th birthday or something. Get the prices first, then talk about the ribbons!

As others have said a lot depends on what style of car you want...if you want something that is old and vintage then the prices can be very high...but if you are after something a little more modern then there are ways around paying the high prices.

If you want an exec car why not contact a local good taxi firm, they often have cars usually quite large that rhey use of airport runs etc and it can often work ot a lot cheaper than saying that you want a particular wedding package.
