Yeah, that would work, or an air bed I guess would be okay as well.
Look, I am not trying to be awkward, I am really not, but I don't want to live like this forever. I am sure anyone can see that? If there was light at the end of the tunnel I would put up with the situation, but as HappMJ has said, I will not EVER be classed as overcrowded here.
The money side of things is kind of a mute point to be honest. We pay £114 per week rent on our 2 bedroom flat. I could rent a 2 bed flat privately for about £500 pcm, so he price difference is not great. It is the security that is an issue, and that is the only reason I am reluctant to move out of a HA property.0 -
Apparantly that makes all the difference!
The idea of an air or camp bed isn't a bad one and that would work, so I am more inclined to go with that tbh.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Yeah, I will probably look to get an air bed, think I can get one from gooutdoors for quite cheap.:footie:

I understand your point OP, so that is why you have to make the choice - security on a crampped flat, or a not so secure, but larger, and more comfortable property.
Long term private rents are possible. Is there a shortage of private lets in your area?
I know the situation isn't ideal but to me the solution would be.....
1) Change the locks on the windows in the smaller room so the boys can have bunk beds in there. (OK its technically breaking your TA but really what harm will it do, and who will find out, as long as you replace the originals when you leave) So they won't have their "play area" anymore, but this isn't essential, they acan use the living room.
2) you and your wife share the larger bedroom with the new arrival UNTIL you can apply for a larger property.
3) Cross your fingers and hope you get a larger HA property. If you do, great! If not, look for a more suitably sized private rental.
Again, I appreciate the situation isn't as ideal as you woudl like, but it looks like the most sensible option IMHO0 -
Yeah I think you are right.
Here we go with a bit of a rant, and this is probably why we feel hard done by. I appreciate there are people in far, far worse conditions and circumstance than us, and my heart goes out to them. I am also a work based TU rep and have been in and involved in lots of campaigns and marches for better and more adequate housing, but anyway I am babling.
My wife's step-cousin (long story) got preganant at 18. She got a 2 bed HA property. A couple of years later with still one child they exchanged into a three bed house. They have lived there for about 7 years, her, her boyfriend/fiance and daughter. In all that time she claimed she was living their alone nad got rent, CT etc all paid for her, whilst he was working. They got found out about 3 months ago. Not sure what happened with regards to having to pay back the money etc, but they are now moving into another 3 bedroom house with a different HA. How on earth is that fair, on anyone?
Guess that is why I feel a bit bitter at the whole situation at the moment. Sorry.0
