Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Seems a bot colder here this morning, but no where near as cold as they are saying the weekend will be.
Work today, need to drop dd off at the station for college, and the dog at my mums first.
Not sure whats for dinner tonight, will go and check my list, had my first asda delivery last night, was very good, not only are the items cheaper, but most are bigger too :T will try them again.
Have the luxury of a lay in this weekend, dd is not at work for once, so no rush in the morning.
Need to put a wash on tonight, the basket seems to be full of OH dirty work clothes.
Have good days all xx
Jools how is it going love ? xx

Morning :hello:
As fast as I'm crossing things off my lists, I'm adding moreI've sewed on buttons, fixed a zip, covered some cereal boxes (to store my craft papers) and fixed a lamp. I wanted to sand down the door frame in the bathroom but the sandpaper has got damp in the shed, so I brought it in and it's drying off in the kitchen. My coat shrank a bit in the wash but the lining didn't
so I'm going to stitch it up today.
Mr tru made a fab beef and mushroom pie the other day, it was much better than mine. I've told him he's now the piemaker of the house and he pulled a face (oh I love a good backfire, lol). He's making another today. He always seems to get the timing right for reduced meat in the shops, so he's in charge of buying that too.
I've taken some turkey out of the freezer (only one and a half crowns to get through now!) so we'll be munching on that for the next few days.
I've crocheted a perfect circle :j Well, it was perfect for the first five rounds, then went a bit wonky :rotfl: Looking at it, I think I didn't count the turning chain as a stitch on round six :think:Bulletproof0 -
Morning peeps
Cold here , I've just fed the guinea pigs and put them a heated pad in to keep them warm , they need cleaning out , I'm hoping to persuade DH to do it as it makes me sneeze
DD2 is revising this morning for her last exam this afternoon for this week anyway she has some more coming up soon . Bless her she was revising till 10 last night and up at 6 this morning :A
I need to go shopping just for a few bits, I went to a discount shop yesterday ( a bit like approved foods but with fresh food). And managed to get most of my shopping but I still need some salad stuff and a few other things , so I'll drop DD at school nip to sainsbugs and pick her up on the way back
Going to take her out driving later she is doing really well ,so I'm going to take her on some faster roads and she how she does
Downstairs is clean but I need to do upstairs , DD1 went to uni on Sunday and left a lot of carp in her room so I need to sort that out and clean the bathroom
Have a good day all xx
((( hugs))) to all that need. Xxx0 -

Morning all,
Got a bit confused earlier as the thread says THURSDAY so I was waiting for Friday's thread. :rotfl:
Didn't get on here y/day as DD changed my plans. I had DGD3 on Wednesday from 10-2 then when she colected her she dropped off DGD2 for her to have a sleep over, so I was up at 6am yesterday and DGD2 was washed fed and dressed by 7.15. She had her new backpack on and just wanted to get to play school, played games and did reading to pass the time.
Did a bit of shopping as I had to get a few bits for the party food, I made 9lbs of chilli and 3lbs of Quorn chilli for the vegies, DH helped by chopping the onions, peppers and mushrooms for me, also made 50 sos rolls and 30 c&o rolls. Today I'm making DH's b/day cake, 4 large quiches and 6 pizzas. Hope that will be enough to feed 42 guests.
I'll cook the garlic bread just before everyone arrives.
Need to vacume through and wash kitchen/bathroom floors.
Hugs to all in need, hope today is a good one for all.0 -
morning all!
DH is off fishing and I'm off to work this afternoon. Got a blood test this morning and also need to do a bit of ironing.
DH is having leftover chilli for his tea, I'm having mine at work.
WM is on it's second load.
I've got a couple of things to put on Freegle later as part of my decluttering. DS2 is leaving home soon if it all goes throgh ok and we're having a bit of a move round of the furniture and spring clean. I've bought a sofa and am giving mine to DS but we need to store it somewhere until he moves.
Snow forcast tomorrow!!! hope we don't get much, it looks pretty but it's a pain living in the countryside and having to drive to work.
(((hugs))) to those in need
Take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all,
excuse me if i yawn i'm still half asleep. I had a visitor last night and she didnt go till quite late and even then i felt a bit too awake to go to bed straight away so i was up till way past midnight on here and trying to wind down.
Dogs only got me up once thankfully but i still struggled to get out of bed this morning.
TMI maybe for some of you and halight if your reading look the other way but i'm going to share it anyway.... Periods, i was so glad when i stopped having them over 14 months ago. Mine were heavy, caused me many problems with anaemia over the years and although in some ways i missed my loss of fertility but the benefits of not having them were enormous. Now tell me someone, why, after 14 months ive suddenly had one appear from nowhere? I console myself that i am not as old and decrepid as i might feel and its good to know i still have 'eggs' (even if they are older than Gods dog and no use to man nor beast). I havent got a clue where its come from or why after all this time but i'm cursing the fact i will be pretty housebound all weekend now.
Good news is that both me and my canine companions (The Girls) have lost the weight that we put on over Christmas. Its a shame my house has been filled with growling tummies over the last few days but where needs must......
Late starting my household chores today i'd best get on with it before i decide to go back to bed.I've crocheted a perfect circle :j
Well, it was perfect for the first five rounds, then went a bit wonky :rotfl:
Looking at it, I think I didn't count the turning chain as a stitch on round
six
Tru, i can crochet a perfect circle too but i just cant get the corners right and you dont see many round blankets so i gave up trying ages ago..... Defeatest me.... Much!
Have a great day all its foggy here and i cant see much out of the window....looks like leaving cleaning up after the 'Girls' till i can see where i am stepping.:o

Another day at home. Luna moping due to lack of walks so am afraid I took her round streets for a decent walk this morning as I can't stand the whinging and heavy sighs
Not loads Of OS, just BM to go on and then housework. Going to tackle the ironing this aft with a nice film
Tea will be no idea as me andH are going out for date night (although I think he hates that term).
Dog discussions are still continuing
Hugs and spoons all round xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all
RR - I may be wrong as I have no clue as to what day it is, but I think it's Friday! :rotfl: Can you amend the thread title?
I had a great night's sleep last night, although I did sleep in til 10am, need to break that habit from next week ready for when I go back to work at the end of the week.
No plans for the day today, going to have a lazy day but may do some work work as I have some files to assess, and I'll get bored doing nothing. Then tonight I'm going to my friend's house and he is cooking me dinnerwe are having tapas apparently, but I'm not allowed to know the menu as it's a surprise. Looking forward. I may even have a glass of wine, first one this year, will see how I feel.
OS wise - need to put WM on (my work tops are a bit sweat whiffythey are 4 year old, and worn daily, so going to play around with vinegar and bicarb), laundry to go away, hoover.
Have a good day all
