Flights to USA, Advice wanted

When we have flown to the USA it is usually off peak... but this year as it's our Silver wedding we are planning for the high priced summer 23 July for 2 weeks or thereabouts. I normally pay £400 a ticket on average winter fares, but;
So far this summer prices are £800.
I plan to fly anywhere mid west to east coast as I plan to hire a car and drive, visit and see friends.
Can I expect there to be sales on tickets leading up to the summer, or will £800 to Chicago/Atlanta/MSP be about the best I will get?
Thanks

We are limited to travelling during school holidays and go to the USA every year, £800 is about what we generally pay - can be slightly more or less depending on which part of the USA we go to but is the kind of 'average' price I usually work to when planning a trip.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0

Many thanks, but I live in Cornwall... So I would fly from Bristol or London airports.
