A very small person bashed the keys, now the cursor won't move inwindows. It's okay when at login, but as soon as I sign into windoww, it won't move. He's also managed to put it in flight mode. Little stinker.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Try the basics and take the battery off.0

If you're referring to a laptop, the touchpad may have been disabled. Is there a small button next to it?0
-
Or is there a little dot on one of the corners of the touchpad? On mine, if I double hit that dot the cursor is disabled. I double hit it again to re-enable it. My older lappy has a little button/bar just above it which I just press to disable or re-enable the cursor.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Other methods:
- Learn keyboard shortcuts
- Plug a mouse in.

You state 'cursor', rather than mouse pointer, two different things...I presume you mean the latter?
The basic Windows drivers are in control at that stage of bootup, but 3rd party sortware takes over on total bootup, like sidebar etc does, to enable accelerated mouse movement, different mouse pointers etc, and many of these are controlled via the functions on the keyboard to enable/disable them.
So once booted, press ctrl - alt - delete, look at the services running using an external mouse, and see if one has failed, but many people can negotiate there without. Or read the manual that says 'this button chooses external mouse, rather that touchpad'0 -
Thanks guys. No buttons or dots near the touchpad, darn even I could've negotiated that. It must be one of the function keys, but I'm darned if I can find it. Gonna try tangles final instru tions.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Hi,
check user manual re function key combinations, on my wee Toshiba it's Fn + F9 to lock unlock touchpad.
If you tell us make and model, would help.0 -
F9 is a volume key frugal. It's a toshiba satellite c850-1d2..I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Try this link (you're not the only one):
"I am SUCH a blond......for the record, on the Toshiba C850-F31Q this Disable and enable keys are FN+F5...tired that (found it by accident) and it's working!!!! Whoop Whoop!"Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0 -
Have you tried de-icer?0
