Phew I have managed to catch up before going back to see mum. :T

Quick update, she had an uncomfortable night but they kept topping her up with diamorphine injections until she slept, apparently finally falling asleep at 5.30am this morning. So she was very dopey when I went to visit around 10.30am. Doctor came to see her and she has finally agreed to trial methadone. Has had first dose around lunchtime so it is now a waiting game to see whether it does any good and if it suits her.

It means so much to me to read everyone's posts mentioning mum, thank you all for being there for me. :A:A:A

Oh tiny, I really feel for you. Hope your mum responds well to the morphine

From April 2013, if you live in council accommodation or other social housing and are assessed as having at least 1 extra bedroom in your house, your Housing Benefit could be reduced by:
    • 14% if you have 1 extra bedroom
    • 25% if you have 2 or more extra bedrooms

Oh no - that is unbelievable. Fingers crossed something better will turn up soon. x

I only just heard about this when my mum phoned but I had a read about it and doesn't look like my mum will have to pay it as she's a pensioner. It's quite ridiculous that some of those this covers are separated/divorced parents who need the room for whenever they have their child stay over.

This is good to a certain extent. That way they can make people in social housing move to a property that is correct for them which will hopefully free up space for people who actually would use that many bedrooms.

I work in Housing and currently in our area, there are 250 properties where 1 person lives in a 3 bedroomed property which is just crazy. There is a massive shortage of 3 bedroomed properties and this will help free them up. Loads of people that have 2 or more kids are being made redundant and have been turfed out of their houses for not being able to pay their rent etc.

Sorry TWEETS, I don't know what your situation is and I was not aiming this post at you, this is what the Government thinks and as I work for them, I'm just relaying information.

Oh tweets that does sound carp - are you looking for anything else or is it a case of better the devil you know? I'm glad I'm able to work from home but it means I end up arguing with myself when it goes pearshaped, or it's usually the first person through the door who gets it in the earhole :o

Not looking yet just seeing how it turns out. The other 3 i work with in kitchen stressed too..

I am always talking to myself or Poppy if only she could talk back :)

Yeah - the powers that be really seem to have no understanding of how these things affect the real people. Hope you have a good two days off though.
