  • Forgot to say, for anyone who has a 50/50 50p bread coupon, naughty I know as I think it's really meant for the large loaf, but I managed to pick up a small 50/50 loaf which is 50p at the moment in Asda and the guy at the till took the coupon:)

    Oh the snow memories.
It was deep here in january 1987.
I announced that i was pregnant on the 9th January and My SIL gave birth the next day, she said I shocked her into labour !!
She wasn't allowed home on 11th as it was too deep and had to stay two extra days.
We were ok as we had a range rover.......what else would an Essex girl have in the eighties ? :)

hopepray, did you live in that area in the mid to late 90s? I can't remember the year, but I think it must have been between 1995-1998? I lived at RAF Kinloss and the temp got down to -25. The water in our toilet froze:eek:......we had to put a calor gas fire under the loft hatch to keep the tank for freezing. That is the coldest I ever remember being:eek:

I remember a bad winter around that time but not sure of the year. The snow was blown up to the height of the window sills. When we looked out the window at night there was no other lights to be seen most of the power had gone off round about us, it was blowing a gale and we had a solid fuel Rayburn which went into overdrive, the Christmas turkey was cooked with the door open and we were wearing shorts and t shirts it was that bloody hot :D

I've lived in SW London/NE Surrey for almost 30 years. Unlike in Scotland I never saw snow lie on the ground until DD was born. (Horribly when she got ill in 2003 was the next time snow lay on the ground and though I'm not superstitious it certainly spooked me out bigtime). :(

It's starting to happen more and more down here now. I can cope - it never was big deal when I lived in Scotland. They've just got the gritters out and got on with life.
