Casserole Beef Mistake - Need Help!

Hi All,
So im making what I thought was going to be a lovely casserole tonight. Link: http://www.lecreuset.co.uk/Persian-Beef-Casserole.aspx
Tesco didnt have anything labelled braising steak so i bought casserole steak as I thought it looked like what I remember braising to look like. I thought they might be calling it something else like the supermarkets tend to do.
I have since found out from my dad that its different and may take longer to become tender.
The pot has been in the oven for an hour now on gas mark 3/160°C
Recipe states to turn it down to gas mark 2/150°C for the last 1.5 hours.
What are your opinions on how its going to turn out? Or any ideas to make sure its going to be tender and lovely?
Thanks all

Only one answer - taste it, casserole steak and braising are very similar in my book. But then again I would have bunged these in the slow cooker, 8 hours on slow can tenderise an old wellie boot.0

To be honest I would be looking for a substitute meal for tonight - and then leave it cooking on 150 for about 3 hours when you turn it down - then leave it to cool and reheat tomorrowJohn0

Thanks Sally, I would have done in slow cooker too but mine packed up last month and havent replaced it yet.
Slow cooker before leaving for work in the morning and come home to a lovely stew. Didnt realise how much I would miss it! hahaBorrowed - £148000 June 2013

This is why I love my pressure cooker, doesn't matter what cut of meat I buy it will be tender & delicious in well under 30 minutes.
Anyway I've no additional advice to add as you've already had great replies, but I hope your casserole is delicious when you finally get to eat it.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Thanks John, im going to leave it in aslong as possible. A cheese and tuna rivita is bieng made up as an appetiser for when my girlfriend gets home. I can hold out but she gets nowty when she is hungry. Bit of a role reversal eh?Borrowed - £148000 June 2013

When I do beef casserole I cook it for 2.5hours and it comes out really tender. I'd leave it at 160 and test it after the 2.5 hours. It should be fine.0

I've just ordered a slow cooker because of this thread!!0

May be worth tasting now - I usually do 2.5/3 hours for stewing steak.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0
