Orange/EE problems, help!
Options
Hi there, long time reader, first time poster.
So here goes - I've been with Orange pretty much as long as I've had mobiles, and in early 2011 I took out a 24 contract with them for an iPhone. I was convinced my end of contract was coming up in February/March, so just gave them a call and asked - I was told it wasn't til June.
Now, with Orange, I've always suffered from bad signal, and since they switched to EE, I can't take or make calls in my house because the signal is so poor. Not just in my house, actually - in most places I've been to! The man at Orange asked why I wanted to end my contract, and I explained that I was paying £50 a month for something that was essentially useless to me. He gave me a very rehearsed speech about how much he sympathised and wished he could help.
I asked if I could buy my way out of the contract early, which I was told would cost me £204 precisely. I'm currently a freelancer, and £50 is a huge amount to me, as is the £204 I'd need to buy my way out. The man on the phone kept apologising but ultimately couldn't do anything....
Is there ANYTHING I can do? Anything at all? I'm not optimistic, but please help if you can!
Thank you!

You agreed to the contract term, and if you're still in contract you either need to pay the early termination fee or carry on until the end.0

Thanks Matty - kind of knew this would be the case, especially after reading various other forum discussions on the same issue. Have called them and Orange reduced my monthly bill for more minutes and texts, so at least that's something!0 -

If you haven't got a copy of the contract, you should get one. You can either waste time with Orange customer services, or..
Send a "Data Protection Act" disclosure request to the "Data Protection Officer" at their Hertfordshire head office. Copy the Company Secretary, and specifically ask for a copy of your signed contract. You'll need to send them a £10 cheque, but they probably won't even bother to cash it.
Don't give them one inch of wiggle room; send the request recorded delivery.0
