Am I doing something wrong...?

Wow! Thanks everyone... you've actually made me feel hugely better about it all...
I think competition entering is getting more and more popular now - and it's all online now so easier to do.. the ratio of wins must be getting smaller due to this. I should stop thinking about it mathematically and just wish for some good luck!
Thanks everyone

It's down to luck of the draw really - there's no exact science unfortunately. For me it is the anticipation that I might win, that keeps me going.
I know when I kept a strict record of my wins/entries a couple years back, I was winning roughly one in every 2000. I know someone else posted similar stats on here recently too.
Just for your information - I enter on average, around 50 - 100 competitions... A DAY! I would guess during the Christmas break I easily entered in excess of 200 competitions a day!
As others have said, you've got to be in it, to win it - and the more you enter, the more you stand a chance of winning!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
I totally agree with Blulu!
For a while I was obsessively counting the comps I entered and thinking I would win everything - I didn't!
I was entering about 3000 a month and I calculated my 'wins per comp' as 1 in every 250 that I enter.
I've been comping for 6 months now and I have stopped keeping track of how many I enter completely - I was getting a bit obsessive!
So now it's fun and if I miss a comp, it's ok and I'm not winning loads but I enjoy the occasional email (still not had a WTC yet...that's the next goal!!!)
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE FOR 2013!!0 -
I had two years with nothing then 3 lovely wins since october last year, it's a numbers game, got to be in it to win it

I have been feeling a bit low recently too about my lack of wins, the only thing I've won in about the past 8 weeks was one of 1000 tubs of lip balm! But like the others say, if you just expect to win you are setting yourself up for disappointment - nothing is guaranteed, and it all is just down to luck. I must enter anything up to 100 a day when I have the time, and still around 30-50 a day when I'm busier, but have never won anything I'd class as "big" yet. Like Blulu says though, I enjoy the thought that every day could bring something exciting - you never know whether the postie will bring you a surprise, or whether the next email you open is going to be a WEM.
Here's to some good luck to us all xxx0 -
I think also, forums such as this one, have made it harder for people to win. They make it much easier for people to *enter* competitions (and I for one am very grateful for that!), but the sheer numbers of "thanks" that you see under OP posts in a thread shows just what you are up against when you enter. And that's not including those who don't thank the OP - which could be quite a lot of people, now that we have the tick or cross options.
I do look at some people's signatures and think - well *HOW*??? And I admit to a touch of the green eyed monsters at times. But then I think - well, one day, that could be my signature that is bursting with good cheer!
I don't think we un-winners are necessarily doing anything wrong, it's just that there's a lot of competition out there for the competition prizes0 -
It's good to hear other people are in the same boat. I was entering more than 100 comps a day in the run up to Christmas and all I won was a chicken apron from the NTS advent comp. Still I'm sure the number of compers goes up at Christmas and there's always next year. I've been comping under a year and seriously thought about giving up but I'm pretty sure there are wins out there for me sometine and if you don't enter you can't win. Good luck everybody and have fun.0

For me its the thrill and anticipation of winning that keeps me going although I have been lucky these past 3 months and have won some lovely prizes.
At the end of the day its a numbers game and a huge amount of luck. If you are not in it, you can't win it!
Keep going, I am sure you luck will change soon. Thanks to all those who post competitions! Comping on and off since 2009
Nothing is so contagious as enthusiasm0 -
Not sure how many I enter exactly, but I log into the forum every night and sort the threads into ending date order, then enter every competition due to end for the next 1-3 days depending on the time I have.
My only win since last spring has been a £50 shopping voucher this week, but I think that was down to there being 100 prizes available so my chances were better
Before that dry spell I won an iPhone 4 before they were even in the shops and an iPhone 3gs before that, but I haven't won any other major prizes before so it's all down to keep trying. I'm definitely entering more now than I ever have done before.0
