Am I doing something wrong...?

I love comping and have been doing it for over 3 years now.. I've won some great things in the past but recently I've been entering MORE competitions and I've had 4/5 months where I have won nothing.

I enter about 200 a week.. on Facebook, Twitter, comps from Hotdeals UK.. and all I've won is a case of Coca Cola from RC Cola.

This doesn't seem like a lot considering I enter 800-1000 comps a month!

Can anybody tell me if they think I'm doing anything wrong?

  • Im begining to think that exact same. I enter the same maybe more than you. Yet i have won nothing. A few years ago when i was doing it, I won a 3 day tour around scotland. I won a wii and wii fit package and a cook book. But that is all i have ever won.

Past few days ive actually been getting a bit down about it, recieving no emails or phone calls or packages.
Sometimes i want to give up.

But i guess we just need to keep trying.

Really hope you get a win soon. x

If you're not in you can't win! I enter alot more competitions than you do and I do win frequently enough but it's all down to luck.
Maybe try entering more of the comps which require effort as these generally have less entrants. Or comps which are area specific.

    Good luck x

Welcome to the club - I had a £50 amazon voucher win before Christmas, but nothing other than than for a couple of months. However my comp entering is a bit hit and miss depending on how busy the rest of my life is at the time, so the amount I enter is a bit inconsistent.
Obviously it's just down to chance at the end of the day, you'll see lots of people saying they've had long dry spells. I also think there's probably just more people entering the things as well.
I also go for smaller prizes as well as the huge ones as even a little win in quite motivating to get. Not had any of them lately though, either. Just one of those things - I live in hope.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Its just pure luck - some months i havent entered many and won and as you say have entered loads for months and won nothing - you will win eventually. - hope you both get a win soon.

  • I am amazed when I see the lists of what people have won and after only a couple of days into the month they already have 3 or 4, I think last year I won 6 things total and I also enter ALOT.
Dont get me wrong I am not complaining as I have won some fantastic prizes over the years, but they do seem to be getting fewer and further apart, even what I would call little prizes ie books, smellys etc.
HUGE thanks to everyone who works so hard posting comps xxx

so far this month I've only had 4 wins - three of those are from magazine dailies & the other was from the tropical sun vending machine - which if you enter at 9.30 you are guaranteed a win

  • another thing to consider is the increase amount of compers that has started doing it in recent years. there are more then ever now so your chances decrease as numbers increase

maybe why the wins were more frequent than before

They are some big things to win! You did well.

Well let's make a pact to keep trying and be positive... positive thoughts bring positive things!

Maybe it's just a 'dry patch' and soon we're going to get an influx of wins!

How many competitions does everybody else enter on a daily or weekly basis?

You ask 'am I doing something wrong?' The only thing you're doing 'wrong' in my humbles, is expecting to win. You're not alone, this crops up a lot here. I think it's important to remember that with almost every comp you enter the odds are hugely against you winning. It's a mistake to believe that if you enter enough comps, you can almost guarantee a return for your invested time.

I stick with it for the hope. Every day when the postie comes I feel a rush of excitement, because I never know what he might bring me. Also, sad cow, every time I look at new emails, I always have in mind that this could be a WEM.

I'm into this hobby not because I expect to win, but because it makes life so exciting. It's not about what I have/haven't won up to now, it's about what might happen in a minute.

    GL :)
