Egg - CitiBank No Response

Hi Guys,

I wrote to CitiBank in December 2012 with regards to starting a PPI Claim for my old Egg Loan, and I havent heard back from them. After searching the internet I can not find a Phone Number to call them with regards to the EGG side of things (there is a number for the citi bank part). Does anyone have a contact number for them as I want to chase them as they havent responded within the 5 days they are supposed to :-(

regards

  • I started the process on 31-10-12 and cheque arrived 29-12-12. Just to keep my fellow bloggers in the know with time scales, they sent me a letter of acknowledgement with regards my signed letter of acceptance on 15-12-12. They told me they received it on 12-12-12, but I posted the acceptance off on 1-12-12. Cheque came on 29-12-12, cheque and letter dated the 20-12-12.

Forget to mention they upheld my complaint on a letter dated the 15-11-12, calling them is a waste of time 0800 358 2101, emailing is much easier simon2.cooper@citi.com did you send he reclaim form to this address?

    Canada Square Operations
    PO Box 4903

  • I took out my first Egg loan in 2003 and a top-up loan in 2004. Unfortunately I did this over the phone and don't have any records.
Anybody else been in the same boat? How did you go about resolving the issue?
(2003 was when I graduated and went straight into full-time employment with the NHS, I was also a home owner and had critical illness cover so really shouldn't have paid PPI at all)

Yes you can! I had no info what so ever, with in 8 weeks, I had a cheque for just under £4k. Use the address above and down load a FOS reclaim form....

Thanks for the phone number and email address. I called the number and was advised that they had sent an acknowledgment letter out on the 3rd Jan 2013. He says someone is looking in to it and the hope to complete all PPI claims within 4 weeks - maximum of 8 weeks. So will update people on how I go.

My PPI claim is for multiple Loans (3 maybe 4)with EGG going back to 2001 - reason for mis-sale is that I was advised I needed the PPI or I wouldnt get the loan's - each loan was paying off the last one and the last loan was for £21000 - this was paid off early.

Thanks for all the help so far

  • Today's date - 31.07.2014

A couple of months ago I received a letter from CitiFinancial. The letter told me that I may be entitled to a refund and could I fill out the enclosed forms and return them in the pre-paid envelope.

This I did and basically forgot about it thinking I wouldn't be so lucky.

I then received another letter offering me an amount and that if I was willing to accept it, to sign the letter of acceptance on the back and return it again in the pre-paid envelope.

I then received a letter about 10 days ago telling me that the letter was receipt of my acceptance that my claim was being processed and I should receive my refund in the next 20 days.

I received a cheque yesterday 30.07.2014 for the amount of £1402.66. As I am due to go on holiday at the weekend I thought I would take my cheque to the money shop to get it cashed so I would have some cash for my holidays. I took in ID along with my passport. The assistant queried the name on the cheque as on the cheque was just my first name and surname, however on my passport I had two middle names.

She said she would have to call the company to just check that the check was legitimate. Of course I had no problems with this.

The assistant was gone for some time, but then said she was still on hold and then went back in to the office.

Next thing, two police officer's attended and asked the assistant had someone called police? To which she said she had. I heard them say to the assistant "I believe you say someone is using a police warrant card?" At which point I said "that would be me then"

You can imagine how embarrassed I was as I showed them my warrant card. I then had to explain to the two officer's why I was trying to cash the cheque. So explained to them that I had received a PPI claim cheque, I was off away on holiday at the weekend and wanted some cash to take with me rather than wait the week for it to clear. They were ok about it and found it quite funny that they had been called for one of their own.

The assistant then started being very nice to me stating that she had called CITI on a number they had for them and apparently the cheque was a forgery and the company had not issued the check.

She gave me the cheque back along with the letter that was attached to it and I said I would be taking the matter further. I tried calling the number on the letter I received but was apparently being held in a queue. I tried again later and a message then said their hours of business which said they were open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. So I will now have to try again while at work.

The address on the letter I received was

    Citi Financial Europe plc
    PO Box 4904
    Worthing
    BN99 3AS

and the telephone number was 0800 358 2101

I still have yet to actually speak to someone.

Prior to receiving the check I did send an email to an email address for customer service at crt.pleaseassist@citi.com asking if it was possible to have the refund payed directly in to my bank. I didn't receive an email back, however I did receive a telephone call with a NO CALLER ID. The chap said they had received an email and he was responding to my email. I said that it didn't matter now as I had already received a cheque.

Can someone please help or advise?
