Hubby took me to disney Paris on my 30th and I LOVED it, as it was great to be able to act like big kids on my 30th! If this sounds like a good idea (appreciate its the idea of hell for some!) You could also do Paris at the same time for a more romantic side.

I've also had long weekends in Dublin (personally I didn't like it much) Edinburgh and lots in London.
  • Hiya, we have been to Paris already tho :(

I think im warming to mareekeh... If that's how you spell it?! Morocco sounds so nice and something he has probably never thought about visiting! I'm note looking for cheap personlised gifts?? If anyone has any ideas? Might also get him a morocco book and present it to him that way. I've convinced him to book the week off so its all underway! :)
  • PM me if you want any Marrakech info x
  • We went to Marrakech and really didnt like it at all. After we had visited the market and the square we ran out of things to do. I wouldnt ever go back. A whole week there would be way too long.

I think Berlin would be a much better place to go - much more to see and do.

If you want somewhere more adventurous would you consider somewhere in Eastern Europe and also spend time exploring some of the countryside nearby.

Morocco is one of my favorite places in the world and I've had an amazing time traveling there, but I hated Marrakech. Loads of tourist hassle, lots of kisch and not loads to see in town. I've spent lots of time in the developing world, both Asia and Africa, and Marrakech was some of the worst hassle I've had anywhere.

If you can spring for a week or two definitely go and and travel around (I went Marrakech - Meknez - Fez - Rabat - Cassablanca - Essouera - Marrakech to catch my flight - glorious trip, wonderful people and lovely sites), but if you only have time for one town / long weekend then I'd stay in Europe.

Ah on gifts - with my ex I gave him the (wrapped) guidebook to Nepal when flights were the present, and for my current OH I went to the airline office and had them print the tickets and then left them in a card on his pillow.

America is a huge and diverse place. I'd think of what you want to see, or what you want to while there. Most places in the States can be done on a reasonable budget.
  • how long do you have for the trip? You dont want to spend it all in the air / recovering from jet lag.
