Best Iphone Sim Only Deal ( For my 11yr old)

Hi Everyone

My 11 yr old son was given my uncles old Iphone 3 for christmas and he is over the moon with it but he is asking for a sim so he can text his friends and go online

He had my old blackberry last year which I paid £8 a month for but I terminated the contract as he was given this phone

Im useless with technology so I would be grateful if any of you would be able to steer me in the right direction on cheap montly PAYG deals for Iphone 3

TIA :)

GiffGaff offer 250 mins, unlimited texts and 1gb data for £10 a month PAYG (you can request a free sim from their website)

Please be aware that in order to accept any PAYG SIM, the iphone will need to be unlocked. I think (but im not sure), that they only legit way to do this is through the original network provider, it might be best to ask the Uncle to arrange this, by calling whoever he had the contract with.

However if it was on o2 originally, it should accept a giffgaff sim.

    It needs unlocking then.
If you can make sure that he stays within 300Mb (this is realistic with WiFi and correct settings) consider Ovivo PAYG that offers 100+100+300Mb every month for free.

Now with 400MB free data. I'm considering cancelling my contract and going payg and this looks a very interesting choice, thanks
Roll on DFD, final payment 1st October 2017

Go with Tesco or a PAYG solution where you have a hard stop on spend, the problem of a high bill with a young child is often posted on here.

Tesco do a similar deal to GiffGaff for £10 a month, but 500 minutes 5000 texts and 1gb of data, some Tesco contracts allow you to use unlimited BT Openzone Wifi when out and about too to save your data allowance. If you have more than one Tesco contract you can get a family perk to boost the deal too, and you can phone them of there are problems...

If it's on Tesco Mobile, who use 02, isn't it already unlocked to giffgaff, who also use 02?
That Tesco deal is not bad, but it is a 12m contract, unlike giffgaff, which is effectively 30 days.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I'd go with Ovivo as well. It's not as if an 11 year old needs to exceed those limits. Use Wi-Fi at home.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

No, Tesco lock their phones to Tesco, not to O2.

    No.
Normally O2 phones work with Tesco sims, but not vice versa.

    It's a month rolling contract, not 12..
