My stair lift drives me up the wallThere will always be:

My 89 year old dad in law couldn't climb their stairs, which sound similar to your mum's. We used this company and I can't praise them too highly.

Many thanks for the recommendation Badger. We've just had a stairlift fitted by them (Simplicity) and, like you, can't praise them enough. There was no hard sell and their prices are on their website. The guys who fitted it did a great job. If it wasn't for your post I wouldn't have known where to start as there are so many retailers.0 -
I'm at the end of my tether trying to get a stairlift removed from my mum's house. I don't want any money for it but it would be nice not to have to pay to get it removed. It's only 3 years old and, even though it's curved, there is a long straight bit and the rail is in sections. You'd think there would be a company out there who would take it away for parts.
Trouble is, it's wired into the electrics and, as I have to sell the house, I'm nervous of some amateur coming in and making a hash of the removal.
Any ideas? Anyone? Help!!!0 -

There is no harm in ringing http://www.directstairlifts.co.uk/ as they are very helpful. They rent out stairlifts as well as selling them so they must be used to removing them. If they don't want it, they might know someone who does.0 -

thanks for this one. I'll give them a ring tomorrow. I note they are in England though and I'm in Scotland. I've found that a problem with a couple of other companies who don't cross the border - 'here be dragons' I think.
Really?
I'd be interested to know how you get on (just in case I ever need mine removing).0
