Glad you have driven the A1 and enjoyed it.....I'm still thoroughly enjoying mine nearly 2 years down the line.....Oh and I have just found out it's a 1.4 cos they don't do a 1.2 auto, silly me
don't take any notice of the doubters, there is no such thing as a totally reliable, fault free car.....It's a machine for god's sake.....if there is I'll buy one.....but I don't like boring ten a penny cars so please don't recommend any to me.
My last three run-abouts.....a 56 plate Mini Cooper a 2007 Honda Civic a 2010 Ford Fiesta and now a 2011 Audi A1...... I walked out of the launch of the Fiat 500 because all they could do was compare it to a Mini!!! So I went out and bought the Mini......better the real thing than the copy.
So buy what you feel is right and probably stick with petrol as opposed to diesel

I think you will find that the current 'Mini' is not 'the real thing' but a copy. It's not even made by the original manufacturer where as the Fiat 500 is.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

And what may I ask.....difference does that make!!!.....it just shows the op I have driven the same model as she's interested in.
When I bought it I thought it was a smaller engine than my 1.4 Fiesta, but was a lot nippier, now I remember it's the same size engine with a lot more power. It was bought because I needed a auto desperately because my knees were na****ed and I was about to go for Surgery to replace both knees, so the engine size was a little bit low on my priorities:mad:

Of course it is, dear.
if its the old mini, he has nearly 20bhp on you, not to mention a free-revving supercharged petrol engine.
If its the newer one, he has 25bhp on you, with a turbo.
Thats even assuming the "work" youve had done to it has actually acheived what you think it has, maybe this modification you have done has caused all this damage to your engine that youve just had to repair? something to think about, take the remap off and try again.

If the OP is looking for character then why not buy a REAL mini (not a BMW).... loads of character, cheap to run and repair and you can feel proud once again!
... and for the record the boot on the original mini is bigger than the BMW!!0 -

My beloved Mini has been causing me very expensive problems and I may have to sell it.
And 90% of people think the same way you do, so what are your chances of getting a new car that doesn't also need expensive repairs?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
