Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone. I have a confession. My life is in total disarray and the cause, or culprit, as far as I can see is my computer!!!

Yesterday our washing machine broke down, OH says haven't we recently just bought this, it's under guarantee! I am so disorganised at the moment with every room in the house a mess and paperwork scattered all over that I don't know where the receipt is. With one disabled child and another over anxious child cos of the disabled one, I usually have wet beds to deal with, so in no time stall I am drowning in washing. This morning I can't sleep because I'm worrying about where the receipt for the flipping washing machine is!!

Something has to give and I HAVE to get back to my organised ways. So I am going to ban myself from my computer for a week, as much as I love listening to your lives (yes ok I am being nosy!) and picking up all the useful money saving tips and other bits and bobs I need to get my life back.

I am giving myself until 7 am this morning, then its off and I get organised. Dinners will be from the cupboard or freezer and I will not resort to takeaways due to not being organised enough. It's not very MSE to be using the laundrette all the time!!!

    Hugs to all x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light, cold and frosty start to the day here.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was lamb casserole, mash, cauli/brocc cheese, carrots, green beans and peas - there wasn't really enough meat so I just had the casserole gravy, cauli/brocc cheese and the rest of the veg with gravy - really enjoyed it as it had good flavour. Tonight should be ham and cheese kievs, chip and beans for the menfolk I'll have the LO cauli/brocc cheese.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got more clearing up done, and I can now see DS2's bedroom carpet! Busy day today - have dentist first thing, then into town and bank, then hairdressers and nails at lunchtime - need to pack etc at some point, take bday prezzie to niece and have online shop arriving later this afternoon - so must crack on.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Having a browse on here till dds and friend staying over get up and about.

Had to get fridge door fixed yesterday after dd broke the hinge - she keeps leaving the door open and swinging about while she ambles around. She also leaves cupboard doors open and I nearly brained myself the other day  Thankfully the door got fixed and I was able to get food out eventually to make evening meal.

Potato and leek soup, buttery mash, garlic pork chops, gravy and stir fry veg all went down well and dd had baked a cake for afters.

I think dd and friend might be going out on drive to country later so will offer a big cooked breakfast or packed lunch with flask of tea.

Planning to make spicy lentil and coconut soup later and either a big lasagne or marinated chicken pieces with sweet potato and red pepper cakes. DH very relieved when he got home after getting car serviced to find he was able to get the soup from the fridge for a very late lunch ;)

Youngest goes back to uni at the weekend so hoping the weather does not get bad before then so the drive is not too bad for them.

    Hugs to all

Morning, full of cold and it's upset my stomach too. Plan to dose myself up to the eyeballs and go to meeting about my son, trying very hard not to breath germs at everyone. not going to visit son as really don't want him to catch this. Hopefully if I explain he will be ok with it.
Haven't got anything much done as feeling so feeble. If I get that meeting done today, I shall count it as a successful day. My son's new speech and language therapist will be there as will all the management for his project, and we are trying to get some changes sorted out.
Sorry I'm drivvling, will go and return when brain is functioning better!
Hugs to jools and others who need tham.

    Morning all,

My how the temperature has dropped! It was so cold when i got up this morning and let the dogs out. I pity those who have to work outside. Thinking particularly of my really nice postman who changes into a bit of a grump when the temperature drops.

Ive just had to send hubby a photo message of his last time sheet at work. He worked 49 hours and has been paid for 29. Oh dear, i wouldnt like to be on the receiving end of his phone call this morning. He's walked out more than once for less.

    Moving swiftly on.

A few more jobs added to my list for today.

[STRIKE]Bathroom (didnt do it yesterday) and it needs a bit of a scrub.[/STRIKE]

More pictures needed to be taken for Ebay. Its free listing this weekend and i'm hoping to take advantage of it.

[STRIKE]Brush and groom the dogs (ive got a visitor this evening).[/STRIKE]

    Vacuum downstairs.

[STRIKE]I might even go on a cobweb hunt (i prefer to call them hanging gardens).[/STRIKE]

Lasagne for tea tonight before my friend comes.

nlj1520. I hope you feel better soon.

Have a good day all, and wrap up warmly.

emsf - breathe! And I hope that you get the WM sorted asap. can you remember how you paid for it and look back on CC statement maybe?

Elona - I'm so like your DD, I leave doors open all the time :o very bad habit! Would you mind sharing the recipe for your spicy lentil and coconut soup please? Sounds yum!

Well I finally got a night's sleep at normal times (11pm to 9am) which is nice. Feeling much better now, I probably overdid it yesterday as I was so tired in the evening but I realised that I didn't need any painkillers all day after I took my morning ones, so must be on the mend!

Today I'm meeting my mum and nan for lunch as a treat, which should be nice bar the grilling I will get about who my new friend is from the FB pics yesterday! :rotfl:. I also desperately need to get my fringe cut so will pop to hairdressers first off, then pop to shopping centre for a wander before going to meet my family. Then after work one of my old colleagues is popping over for a cuppa which will be nice.

OS wise - dishes to wash, laundry to go away, hoover needed downstairs.

    Have a good day all

RR good luck to Miss RR xx

Esmf good luck getting organised and if its any consolation I suffer with the same problem, too much time online :o
