Hi
I had a puncture in my mondeo tyre today and had to put the spare tyre on, which is a smaller tyre than the others with a 60mph limit on it...how long is it safe to drive with this tyre on as I can't get to the garage until the weekend...I do about 60 miles a day
cheers

Your handbook should tell you but from memory my Jag x -type (based on the mondeo chassis) recommended 150 miles. Not sure if that is per journey or total.
And the max speed was 80kph or 50mph. Due to heat build up in the tyre I understand.
You'll get very bored doing 50mph back and forwards to work......0 -
No doubt others will have opinions on this, but it is questionable whether using a spacesaver wheel is legal other than for emergency purposes (i.e. to get you to the nearest garage).
I don't think that it would pass an MOT with such a wheel fitted - so is the vehicle roadworthy?? Not at all sure how your insurance company would view repeated use if you had an accident??Forgotten but not gone.0 -
cheers oscar,
I'll be getting a new tyre on Saturday so hopefully it will last til then0 -

By then you may find you need to buy a new spare tyre depending on the range of the current one.WaxiesDargle wrote: »cheers oscar,

Why can't you get to the garage until the weekend? Are you in one of the only places in the UK where there are no garages? Kwik-Fits are open til 8pm in many places.0

Sounds like you were going to drive on it regardless of what was posted. Get a new space saver while you're there.0 -
Could you please advise us of where and when you will be driving so we can avoid those areas.WaxiesDargle wrote: »cheers oscar,

I don't mind you killing or injuring yourself but I don't wish to be part of any collateral damage.

According to an article in Auto express a space saver is limited to 50mph and 50 miles.
Crazy to drive on it further, but as has been posted the OP will do it anyway.
Looks like you will be buying 2 tyres at the weekend0
