Hi, Please can anyone help.
I am trying to escape from Tiscali but I have a very large number of e-mails with them that i can not afford to loose. There are far too many simply to forward to a new address and trying to move them to hotmail through Trueswitch won't work, I just keep getting an error message saying that Tiscali is not a source domain that they can service even though Tiscali is on Trueswitch's list of e-mails that they are supposed to beable to move.
I am at a total loss as to what i can do so i would be very grateful if any one can suggest anything that i can try. Regards, kje.

Try creating a new folder on your desktop, highlight all the emails (select the first email, scroll to the bottom, press shift and select the last email), then drag and drop them into the new folder on your desktop.0

Hi, Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately you're dealing with someone who knows little about computers!!! I know how to create a new folder in Word and I can drag and drop into that, but I don't know how to make a new folder for my desk top to put my e-mails into and then if i manage to do this how will I get this folder of e-mails into the inbox of my new e-mail address?
I would be very greatful if anyone out there can hold my hand and lead me through this procedure? Here's hoping? Regards, kje.0 -
Assuming you're using Windows here - what email program do you use - eg Outlook, Windows Live Mail etc? If you use one of these programs, you can keep the Tiscali account and all the emails and add your new account as an additional one.
If you view your Tiscali emails via their website, then Gordon Hose's method could work.
NB to create a new folder on your desktop (or anywhere else) in Windows, just right mouse click in a blank area, go to 'new' then pick 'folder' from the next menu that appears and your folder will appear. You can rename it straight away, or right click on the folder anytime, and select 'rename'
Edit to add - I moved from Tiscali 1 year + ago and I can still view (and receive!) email on the Tiscali account if I log in on their website (TalkTalk now), I just can't send from it anymore0 -
Hi, Many thanks for advice.
I do view my e-mails via the Tiscali site. I have now put a new folder on my desk top, but the e-mails won't move into it. When I try to drag and drop, once I move my icon out of the tiscali e-mail page onto my desk top area to drop into the folder my finger icon changes to a black circle and the drop doesn't work. Am I doing anything wrong? Is there anything else that I can try? Again thanks very much for advice. Regards, kje.0 -
Hmm, you're right, you cant drag them can you!
Short of forwarding the emails to your new address, there's only one other way I can think of (anyone else is welcome to advise though) -
Open a mail message, select 'print view' at the top the message, then 'print email' and use a virtual printer such as 'DoPDF' (free download at https://www.dopdf.com ) to print each email to a PDF file and save them in whatever folder you want on your PC. That way they will be archived away from your email website but still available to view when needed, plus you can then back-up this folder along with your other documents.
A bit long winded, I know, unless someone can suggest another way? I wouldn't panic about losing the Tiscali access straight away - just checked mine and there's 2000+ unread emails in there from upto a year ago...!
NB DoPDF is a great tool anyway for printing from websites and other programs where you want to keep the original format, but don't need to print to paper - any program that you can select 'print' from can be used once the program is installed.0 -
Hi, Thanks for suggestion - what a cunning plan!!!! Unfortunately I have an awful lot of e-mails in an awful lot of different folders that need to be dealt with so I'm still hoping that there's a way of forwarding my old e-mails to my new address also is there a quick way of letting everyone know my new e-mail address or do i have to contact everyone individually, which again would take ages!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again any further advice would be very greatly appreciated. Regards, kje.0
