Unless you are on a hightly monthly tarrif you will be unlikely to get anythign as a discount as an individual.

Check your employer they may have some deal that gets you some discount that is usually the only want to get any discount.

A year ago we avoided the £200 handset cost in o2 by asking what price matches they had - instore the networks all have comparison sheets and they price matched us up on the same tariff as we wanted, but against a CPW offer.

If I was to renew now I would go to Vodafone and take advantage of the 30% employee discount on Line Rental I get now....

just phoned orange to upgrade or get my PAC code depending on what they had to offer.

I wanted an iPhone 5 and quoted them the deal with tesco £30 per month for 24 months plus £100 up front. For that you get 750 minutes, 5000 texts and 1gb data. This comes to £820 and I could also get £30 cash back with quidco bringing it down to £790.

I don't actually need all that so after a chat the guy offered me 300 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb for £28.76 per month plus £99.99 matching the £790 give or take a few pence. I know this is less than tesco are offering but it is more than I need so I am very happy. There is nothing close on their website. I think they do 250, 250 and 500 for £31 per month but then want £179 for the phone.

  • Everyday discounts on iPhone may be closer than ever. Seems like it is a company in turmoil at the moment.

If you're buying the handset separately, you could haggle with retailers in a market or somewhere like that, or buy a refurbished phone which will be cheaper.
