I *think* you are on a fixed monthly payment scheme and your monthly readings are optional and are being used for information only. Otherwise how is it possible to have a credit balance.
Anyway the issue is not really the credit balance but whether Edf are making a reasonable usage assumption. How did you come by the original payment amount? Does your tariff have early termination charges?0 -
Either leave or raise a formal complaint. You will get the money back either way.0

This, I run all my accounts very tightly, if I see my DD/month is too high I get on to them until they put it at a level I am happy with.
I used to pay £60/month DD and was always in credit, now we only pay £42 and the account balances itself round to 0 in the summer months. For example, at the moment, because it's cold, I actually owe Scottish Power £8 for the last quarter bill, but it will even out over spring + summer0 -
phone them and let the know you are cancelling the dd and let the bank know you are cancelling the dd as well. This might just let them know you are serious and to sort it out.
apart fro that you'll have to wait until june or raise a complaint which may get sorted before then but may still take a few months
best of luck
