Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Too dark to see the weather but it seems very mild, Taking dd to her first Uni interview today, she has 5 to go to, todays one is the uni she really wants, but places are very sought after, so fingers crossed pleased.

My kitchenaid came yesterday :D its beautiful :T, made my mash in it last night just cos I wanted to use it :D, will do some cakes this afternoon, tis a thing of beauty :rotfl:

Dinner tonight is a curry, which i have already made so just need to shove in the oven, I am not sure if i need to stay with dd today, or I can come away and let her get the train back, the interview is an all day thing, but if I can come away, i shall come home, do some house work, put a wash on then make cakes.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now light here and it's been raining in the night although now sky is clear - temperature has dropped a bit too.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans and toast for the menfolk, I had mushroom omlette and salad. Everything was from the stores/fridge, so a NSD! Remembered to get the lamb out of the freezer to defrost so tonight will be lamb casserole, will need to go out today as haven't got hardly any veg, tiny amount of milk, and need meats of some description for pack ups.

Was reasonably productive yesterday - managed to get washing, drying and ironing done, there is some more but last load was still whirling round in the WM, so will continue with that today - want to get up to date with an empty wash basket by the end of the day, this will make tomorrow a much easier day as need to pack for both boys and ourselves ready for Friday and my normal Friday jobs are being shifted to Thursday so have quite a bit to do, also have dentist, hair and nails appointment too, have already done an on-line grocery order to arrive between 4-6pm tomorrow as I could see that timewise it was going to be tight - may even pack today if time allows - I know I'll be not 100% after dentist (this is first appointment of the day) as having last lot of treatment and I'll be numbed etc.

We now have our telephone landline working again and internet - will now be waiting to see what reply I get to my complaint letter I sent - have heard nothing as yet.

Must crack on otherwise nothing will get done.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

    nmlc x

Oh, have just checked stores/fridge/freezer - have found 2 cartons UHT milk, some cook from frozen flavoured chicken breasts (this will do for sandwich fillings) and can walk over the road to the veg man's stall - he will have some sort of green veg, maybe sweetheart cabbage, leeks, brussels - have some other veg - so although not NSD should be spending very little! Very OS:j:j:j

Good Morning Ruby and All Who Follow x
Ruby - good luck to DD x
Judi - hope you feel better today x
Topsy - glad your new job has started well x
Butterfly - hope you had a good night and that the pain is better x
Kezlou - Since being ill, I have found out who my true friends are and most are here on MSE OS x
Mrs MKH - I have potty trained three boys and found it better to do it at the last minute. The older the better in my opinion. My DD was dry day and night by 18 months but my boys were all 3 years old. I used to make them aware of what their bodies were doing and that letting go was ok - often they are frightened by poo and wee as it disappears and is part of them. I think there is a story book that might help...... x
Hester - hope you manage your 9 hours - hope you get to chill this evening x

Not sure what my plans are today. We have sorted out our conservatory now it is a piggy free zone - I lost both of them as Misty eventually had to be pts and Picca died overnight the day after:cry::cry: They were inseparable so are together again x

Anyway I have lots to sort but finding the motivation is another matter:eek:

Hugs for a good day and still thinking of Jools, Marie and Uncle Bryn xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,
Not been on here for a while so I've not caught up. Got up at 5.30 as brain started working overtime and wouldn't let me sleep.
I went with DD2 & DGD3 to 1kea y/day as she needed some storage units to go under DGD2's high sleeper for storing toys, games and books. I only bought 6 pillow protectors, at £9 for the lot was a good price.
Pan of woopsied veg simmering for making soup and bm pinged for DH's lunch.
Pork chops, cauli cheese & pots for dinner.
I've ironed 9 shirts, 2 prs of trousers and 2 tablecloths but there's still a pile to do. I'm having DGD3 now 14mths today as DD wants some 1 to 1 time with DGD2. I need to go shopping so I'll have to take her with me, it takes so long as I always seem to bump into so many friends who fawn over DGD3. Well, she is beautiful.

It'd DH's b/day on Saturday so I must see what ingredients I need to do the food for his party. Oh joy.

JOOLS and MARIE ((hugs)) and to any in need of one.

It is my dd's birthday on Saturday too and she has requested chicken pancakes - the time it takes to make between 12 and 18 pancakes is unreal. I cheated one year and bought ready made plain pancakes but they let the filling leak through the holes

Having a cuppa as dishwasher is dealing with stuff used last night for dd's baking session and kitchen is looking clearer. I made a big pot of leek and potato soup last night which is in the fridge for lunch and have pork chops for tonight with buttery mash and stir fry veg to jazz it up a bit. DD has friend staying for a few days so need to make up spare bed and nip out for more milk later.

DH is out getting car serviced, dd has gone to work and other dds have not surfaced yet so am enjoying peace and quiet before they find stuff for me to do.;)

    Hugs to all

Morning all, I've caught this horrid cold that's going round and am feeling very muzzy headed. Was up a lot of the night with a roaring temperature and associated nausea etc. Just taken some cold remedy, so hopefully can function today.
Need to get out to pick up some work from a firm I subcontract for, am craving chicken soup so if I can face it I might pop in to shops to get some as I am not OS enough to have any chicken carcasses in the freezer!
I need to be well enough tomorrow to get to a meeting about my son and to visit him, although i don't want to give him this cold - it's horrible.
Went to afternoon cheap cinema showing of 'Quartet' yesterday, it's a lovely film. The acting is superb. It was a real treat and my friend and I agreed that it felt really decadent going to the cinema in the afternoon which added to the fun.
I've been eating a HM quiche for lunches this week, cooked in the same oven as the shepherds pie I've been eating in the evenings (reheated in microwave) with vegetables. Getting bored of both now though. Might freeze remaining shepherds pie.
Good luck to all with new adventures starting and best wishes and hugs to all those with horrid stuff going on. Have as good a day as possible.

    Morning All,

Waiting in today for parcels. New bedding from ebay and BHS, and Approved food order due between 14.05 1nd 15.05:rotfl: How they can be so precise I don't know, but it is always correct:rotfl:

Window cleaner just been. He does a great job once a month, really worth it, I couldn't do it.

OH was supposed to be over today for a business meeting, then on to me for dinner. He phoned to say he has a sickness and diarrhea bug. Not the Norovirus thank goodness, but still enough to keep him in bed. So the veg stew I was going to do has gone back in the fridge and it's a ham & cheese tagliatelle for me! A whoopsie from Asda last week.

DGD went back to Nursery (school according to her) yesterday. DD said she couldn't wait to get there.

Need to do some ironing, but I dropped the iron on Saturday and broke the water tank, so hopefully new one will come today.

((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need them. Keep your chin up Jools

    Morning all
Have been to eye clinic with DS for 9am appointment, hes been having double vision so optician referred him, optometrist thinks its normal, will review in 4 months and discharge if ok, thats one worry lifted.
Mine and DS beds stripped and washed, whilst searching for a hidden pillowcase ended up with a pile of OHs working clothes on the bedroom floor, so DS has decluttered 2 black bags into the clothes recycling bin across the road, its a start but too soon to contemplate the wardrobe, drawers or holiday mountain!
DD and boyfriend in for dinner, need to excavate the freezer eventually but will pop to the shops for something as an excuse to get out the house, am used to being home alone on my days off but just now am getting agitated at home. Might pay a visit to that swedish shop, need a nice box to store some cards and photos in, and the cat has been clawing my cushions!
Have a good day all, hugs where needed! xx

    Hi everyone.

Quite a murky morning. We've been out in the car to do a few errands, but it's quite drizzly outside, so I don't think I'll get out for a walk today. The weather derailed my walking plans last year, so I'm hoping things will get better. I enjoy walking when I can, but don't want to get drenched while I'll doing it.

But I have things to do while I'm inside. Just going to do some ironing, then there's always eBay and de cluttering to be done.

Dinner tonight will be salmon, potatoes and peas, so nice and easy.

    Morning all,

thanks Molly for thinking of me. I had 8 hours unbroken sleep last night which really helped. My temperature has now dropped and i'm feeling a little more normal. Still a bit tearful but i think that must be down to hormones or something rather than feeling ill. I still want to sleep the clock round though.

List of jobs for today, only partly completed as yet:

    [STRIKE]Vacuum upstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Dust upstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum stairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Dust downstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Kitchen floor[/STRIKE]
    Bathroom
    [STRIKE]Wash and change bedding [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Bleach the side of the house as it smells a bit doggiefied. [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Prepare tea (chilli)[/STRIKE]

I'll see what i get done. Ive got all day.

Received £25 in vouchers today. Ordered another £50 which will go towards paying off my authorised overdraft.
