Does anyone have this? It's so cheap, could be worth a go!

PLEASE don't buy it!!! I had it and found it totally PANTS! I would not spend 1p on it, let alone £6 odd. You have to wear a belt and put it inside the belt, but you can't touch it with your hands or it interfears with it. I couldn't hear my son's heartbeat at all with it and heard more of the sound of my skin against the monitor.

Also the midwives tell you not to use them, as if you ever get concerned about lack of movements, use it and hear your babies heartbeat, then you might miss out on something more serious. My sister had a better one which i could use clearly, but she barely used it and i only used it once. You get to hear it at the midwife visits so i wouldn't waste money on one which you might not use.

The price is also a hint....it was £30 originally in boots...:rotfl: I hope this has helped - i'm not being biased, i just want you all to spend your hard earned money on something more effective for your LOs :)
  • I agree with Vic.star. It's totally useless, I'm now 30 weeks pregnant and still can't hear my baby's heart beat through it. Check the reviews of it on amazon.

There is so much tat peddled for new babies and expectant mums. Really drives me bonkers.

Our DD is now 2 and we didn't bother with: Moses basket (coslept), cot (used a hand me down), monitor, baby bath, Doppler ( you hear baby every fortnight at the midwife's!), changing table, baby food (BLWed - no pur!es etc), bottles (breastfed), steriliser, dummies (thumb sucker), outfits until she turned 6 months, toiletries before 6 months, pram/crawling/cruising shoes (bought when she walked at 10 months), teething gel (Anbesol is much much more effective), special towels, safety stuff apart from some soft corners and 1 stairgate at the top of the stairs, waterbabies classes (rip off). I could go on.

90% of her clothes have been from ebay or the sales. All the money we saved has allowed is to put over £4k away for her future and for me to have 3 years + with only occasional consultancy work.

I have to say that I am so pleased that I purchased my angelsounds doopler at £20 from Ebay - its been really reassuring. I'm now 19 weeks and won't be hearing the heartbeat with my midwife until I am 23 weeks (and I know I won't be hearing it every 2 weeks with my midwife - they barely have time to take my blood pressure let along listen to the heartbeat!!!!) - which is an awful long time from the 12 week scan. I listen with my doopler around every 3-4 days - but if I don't hear the heartbeat, I just assume baby is deeper down - however I have only failed to locate it once.

I personally love my doopler - its helped me bond and also given me reassurance as I haven't heard the heartbeat with the midwife yet. Its actually quite interesting to hear all the other sounds that are going on with the baby also. But I did buy one with really good reviews from Ebay - it has been worth every penny of the £20 spent!
  • The key with most baby items is to remember that whatever suits one family and one child will not necessarily suit another. It's all about working out what you need, mostly through trial and error.

For example, my daughter slept in a moses basket for about four months, as she was a very small baby and not inclined to move much in her sleep. I know other babies who were barely in theirs for a month! Often you don't really know what's needed until they arrive.

I also still use a baby monitor - I'm a heavy sleeper and unfortunately do not always hear her stirring in the night even though she's next door. The baby monitor means I can hear her if need be. :o

NCT sales and Ebay are a great way to pick up good quality clothes and toys. By the way, Alibongo - my daughter is 2 next week! Hope your little one enjoys his special day - a good week to be born! :D

For those of you expecting twins or another baby with one under 2 already I've just ordered this Tandem pram from the Obaby outlet which is being delivered today.

It's all down to personal choice but I know twin prams side by side are a nightmare to get through doors, in shops and just stolling around crowded town and I don't fancy the idea of one child being in a basket seat at the bottom of a pram either with no wind or mud being spat up by the wheel protection beside the raincover. (Reviews read and friends comments!)

This Tandem is longer then standard and perhaps wider then some but at £299 delivered it's a bargain as is usually £499 (£449 in the sales atm) and you can use britax or maxi-cosi carseats with the adapters as well as carry cot and toddler seats facing whichever way you wish. I won't be using mine for a good few months yet but am looking forward to taking it out for a spin and getting some custom covers once we know what we're expecting.

    Hope it helps someone :)

I agree - this was the worst investment ever with DS1 - it went back to Boots the morning after it was posted. I couldn't even find MY heartbeat with it.

I have heard the Angelsounds doppler is a good one for home use although never had one myself.

I'm not sure how legit this ebay sale is as it's a new seller and advertised as outside the UK but it's covered by Paypal so I've taken the risk, payment hasn't cleared yet but fingers crossed!

A large travel cot with raised bassinet, changing mat and toy arch. £20.99
