Hollykate - I am new to all this, can you use any bottles in any steriliser? Like you've bought TT Bottles but avent steriliser-they'll fit ok?
Kalcide- I love the babystyle oyster too, so will keep my eyes peeled.
I saw the Mamas and Papas Mylo lastnight ( http://www.mamasandpapas.com/range/mylo/4930/page-1/sort-0/format-grid/size-medium) and fell in love but they don't have the sandcastle carrycot to match :-( hear what Sassy's saying but with my first baby I would really love a carrycot style, think it looks lovely!0 -

Hi
I have a 13 month old and have just found out i'm pregnant again!! Luckily I have everything I need apart from a double buggy, so any recommendations on that would be much appreciated (I'm not buying from new this time round!)
Anyway from my experience, here's my tips:
For those of you after the baby style oyster, I got the oyster plush pushchair with carry cot and maxi cosi car seat plus car seat adapters and carry cot hight riser adaptors, footmuff 2x raincovers and changing bag for £488 delivered from groovey style baby website, this was by far the cheapest I found for the plush model (there is a £10 off code if you like their Facebook page)
Moses baskets are always reduced to £15 in asda after their baby events (£25 during the event) don't pay a lot for one as the baby isn't in it for long enough, I paid a lot and I regret it now.
I used mam self sterilising bottles, after doing lots of research I found these had the best reviews to prevent colic, my little boy never suffered with it so maybe the bottles worked?? These can be quite expensive but I went into asda and found that they were scanning at £1.70 a bottle when they were meant to be much more, this was obviously pure luck but do shop around for them. I used a tommee tippee microwave steriliser which I could fit the mam bottles into at a squeeze, but mam bottles are also self sterilising so you don't need a microwave steriliser for them. Tbh this time round I think I am going to use sterilising cold water tablets as I used them when we took our son on holiday and they were so much easier than the microwave steriliser. You can always get sterilisers for about £10 from Argos, asda, tesco etc depending on who's got offers on.
Baby monitor - buy 2nd hand as they can be so expensive, I got the angel care sound and movement from gumtree for £25, these are £90 new and even about £45 on eBay.
When looking for a pushchair go to a big store that had lots to look at and test out. When you've made a choice go home and shop around on Internet.
If you're planning on breast feeding, make sure you do have some formula and bottles in just incase it doesn't work out and you're stuck, also make sure you have some dummies in.
Don't buy too much milk now as you don't know if your baby will take to the milk, we had to change our son to the comfort formula. Although if you saved the receipts I'm sure most places would let you return.
I know everyone wants a lovely nursery but don't be sucked into paying loads for the bedding and accessories. I was desperate for the baby's r us 'I love my bear' set, luckily I picked it up for £8 from a nct nearly new sale, but I have never used the quilt on my boy and the bumper has always been pulled up whenever he's in the cot as I didn't like him rolling into it. The cot tidy and other bits are just for show and really have been a complete waste of money! I would never be that bothered about a set again.
But I highly recommend the nct nearly new sales, you can get some great stuff really cheap (bath, clothing, bouncer chair and loads of blankets etc)
You will need lots of bibs! Just stock up on cheap ones from asda or tesco. I agree with what others said about vests, just get plain ones as they are rarely seen.
I'll have a think about other tips but that's it for now! Good luck
Ps, make sure your cot has teething rails so it's not all chewed if you want to use it again or sell it.0 -
A good place also to check out if you are lucky enough to have one near you at the right time is the baby show - you get loads of freebies and discount on most things, ie mothercare.m&s, mamas and papas. Theres also loads of unusual things to have a nosey at and buy!Thank you to everyone who takes the time to post comps :beer:0

Another thing i have just remembered is that if you have tesco clubcard points, save them for the exchange as you can double the value and use them to buy from tesco stores and tesco direct.0

I got my Babystyle Oyster from Mothercare at the Baby Show. I got it for £450, this was the chassis, carrycot, maxi cosi car seat, adaptors and grape colour pack for the carrycot and pushchair. Would really recommend the Baby Show as there are always lots of bargains, some freebies, samples, competitions and lots of knowledgeable people to help you out. Plus they have so many things there to see and try out all under 1 roof so if you want to look at a few pushchairs they will all be there.
Also don't forget the pregnancy and newborn threads over on the marriages board as there are lists of the clubs there plus lots of other bargains posted.0 -
we've just bought our pram (my4), car seat, ISO fix seat for £420 from mothercare in their sale. Before Christmas it came to nearly £700.
Also- if you have a Next clearence shop anywhere near you- mines in Dalton park- the baby clothes are nice and cheap in there- just got a girraffe hat for £2, a cream onsie for £1.50 and some cream and brown T-shirts for £2 for 2. (Can you tell I don't find out if it's a boy or girl until next week- I'm dying to buy little boy or girl clothes!)
Any idea what type of things you can get from the Tommy factory shop? It's not all that far from where I live.
thanks for the list of clubs- I'm off to sign up!I don't often return to a thread I've posted on so.... if you want to ask me about anything I've written please pm me- I don't bite.0 -
