Water Board refusing to fit external stop tap!

The story is that we couldn't find a stop tap in the road, so I called out the water board and they put an electric current (?) on the supply pipe under the kitchen sink and managed to find the supply pipe under the driveway, tracked it to the property boundary and arranged for their fitters to fit a stop tap.

Wind forward and their fitters dig out the pavement and can't find the supply pipe. So they cover the hole and go away!

Now they are saying they have no obligation to locate the supply pipe, but if I pay someone to find it they will install a stop tap at the property boundary!

Is it really my responsibility to find the supply pipe?

  • The W Co don't have to fit a valve for every property - all they have to do is to have control over the water, which they can do, because they have valves at either end of the street.
