I snt the buyers message to ebay, who replied saying it isn't feedback extortion as the buyer is only asking for the transaction to be completed. I have replied saying that it says quite clearly in their policy that saying or implying 'refund me now or will get neg feedback' is feedback extortion. Anyhow I have gone through the dispute console and issued a refund but it has sent the buyer an e-cheque rather than taking funds from my bank account - now this will really p off the buyer, is there anyway to spped this up?0

I always contact the buyers sorting office and it usually either finds the parcel or you find out it was delivered.
1 - buyer said not got parcel, phoned sorting office and it was there along with 7-8 other parcels waiting for collection.
2 - buyer said not got parcel, phoned sorting office the spoke to the actual postman who said he had given it to his next door neighbour and then told the buyer when he saw him in the pub later where it was (he knew the buyer)
3 - buyer said not got parcel, phoned sorting office and spoke to the manager who said the buyer had collected it the day before, it was a big distinctive recorded del parcel but they didn;t ask for a signture as she collected a load of parcels at the same time. They said she always collects her parcels once a week like this and is well known to them.
All these buyers were when informed of the above, confirmed they did indeed have their parcels and left positive feedback.
So I could give you more stories like this and all but one found the parcel. The one I did not find was a small package that would have gone through the letter box.
So give it a go, phone the sorting office, what have you got to lose.

I am just astounded firstly that anyone can get through to a sorting office and secondly that they can talk to an actual postman.
Our postman no longer go to the same place that post is held, we have a new system of mail centres which means items dropped back as not delivered go to one office, they are sent by road overnight and available next day for collection elsewhere.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Only for the future. Don't withdraw the money from paypal until your buyer is happy.
I've never had a problem with instant payments into my account. I have a bank account and cards registered. I have no idea why they chose to issue an e-cheque for the refund. And to be honest I am going to negged anyway might as well let the impatient buyer wait for it.0 -

On every occasion I have contacted a sorting office I have got through. I ring between 8 and 9 in the morning, (though on one occasion I think it was nearer 7.30 am)
On every occasion I have spoken to a real person and they have either gone and checked the shelves themselves or said someone will call me back in a while.
On every occasion I have been promised a call back, it has happened and always within 30 minutes.
On the occasion I spoke to a postman who had delivered my parcel it was a small village type location which is how he knew the buyer.
On the occasion I spoke to a sorting office that remembered my buyer collecting her parcels it was also a small village type location, (luckily for me).
So, I cannot understand anyone saying you cannot speak to a person at a delivery office, however I can confirm that I have, thank goodness, not needed to contact any sorting office regarding lost parcels for at least 3 months now. Hope I haven't jinxed things now. lol

I have had to phone a sorting office twice and both times got through straight away and found them helpful on both occasions.

Interesting reading - I have heard of a few people this has happened to lately, think there is a bit of a scam going on!
On another point I ordered an item on 2nd Jan and it still has not arrived - I have not entered into a dispute as contacted the seller who has asked if we can give it a few more days to arrive! Maybe they posted it late? Would always try to track down before taking it further especially if seller has good feedback!0 -
Ask the delivering postie/office if he/they wouldn't mind getting a signature if he delivers it, and that you don't mind upgrading and paying for it, if he can do it.That's my mutt in the picture above.0

I can only assume that I am using a completely different post office/Royal Mail to everyone else...I have to choose my postal service before I send it and my parcels are not individually tracked so that a postman can pull one out to hand deliver and get a signature on untracked mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
