Hello.
I am trying to find out where I stand and what i can do.
LSG insure my wifes IPhone3GS via LLoyds TSB. She had water damage and sent it back to the insurer to fix. they took £100 excess as stated in the policy.
They repaired the phone instead of repalcing the phone. Thats fine, but surely it has not cost £100 to fix and therefore i have been put out of pocket.
I have asked for a breakdown of the repair cost and wished to make a complaint, explaining that £100 excess on a phone which is years out of date is ridiculous.
Anyone else agree
????

Did you expect it to be replaced by a new one?
Very few insurers (if any?) offer 'new for old' replacements. Normally it is a refurbished/repaired phone. What difference does it make if it is your or some other repaired phone?
Re the excess, it doesn't depend on the cost, so it is you who has to decide whether to pay it or to repair the phone at your expense. I am no expert, but I think you were unlikely to repair water damaged iPhone for less then £100.
And personally I think that all special mobile insurances are very poor value for money for the majority of customers. You'd be much better off by saving money instead of paying premiums.0
