Can a "Fit Note" be issued without a doctors appointment?

That's a problem with what I said -- that the "tax payers" (I'm a tax payer, simply not a ranting Tax Payer) will start harping on again..., forgetting that we all pay VAT.

But that isn't a reason not to say it.

We own the Crown Estates, ceded to Parliament by the monarchy in return for saving them from bankruptcy by paying them the Civil List. My GP had agree gave me 12 months sick note when he agree to support me with esa claim on the first day. So, my GP knew that esa can take up to 12 months before tribunal had called me up.

i thought a fit note could only be written for 1 month at a time?
although a dr can write a letter explaining that in his /her opinion your condition might not imrove in the forseeable future (or w.e else)
?

(my dr will only write a sick note if he has seen you within the last 2-3 weeks)

No, GP can issue fit note anything from 1 week up to 12 months depend if the GP agree if there is worsen condition over the next short period or long term period.

Its actually not a common occurance for a GP to issue a fit note for 12 months, only in the most serious disability or illness cases. The most they will give is 3 months and even they are being given less and less.

Also depends on the condition. DD has HMS. A lot of doctors don't believe this condition can cause so much pain. One doc in surgery will give her a fit note for a week. His partner will give her a fit note for 12 months.

Of course doctor, dislocations of multiple joints doesn't cause pain :wall:

Most Europeans would be staggered by some of the comments on here, which show just how much the Government has ground some people down.:eek:

The Doctors, The NHS, The Government, The Royal Family, are all employed by the public to work for the public - US.

In my experience (I have worked with, and for, GPs for more than 30 years) many GPs will give sick notes for periods of up to 12 months. However, I believe that DWP will only accept a first (to them) sick-note for a maximum of 3 months.
