Yes. We all own the NHS.
Do we !
Well I wish to sell my share then please, who do I speak to ?
The NHS is supposed to function as a self financing organization. It is "owned" (if you must use the term) by the government, and is controlled by the department of health under the Minister for Health. It is supposed to be entirely financed by mandatory payroll deductions, but is still annually subsidized by the taxpayers to make up for shortfalls in revenue. In short, it is a department of the government."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

We didn't go. I wasn't up to the traveling in the end, we haven't been abroad since I got ill again. We decided that it wouldn't be worth a worse relapse. The money was left to me by my Grandfather in his will. The money has ended up being combined with some money donated by my Mum for some private treatment in the hope of improvement.

Yes. We all own the NHS.Please elaborate on this - what rights do you have as an owner/ shareholder? Do you receive dividends based on your "ownership"?
The NHS is a public service, it is owned by the govt.
Although controlled by the Government through the Department of Health, the NHS is funded directly through taxation from tax payers money. These same public funds is devoted solely to the benefit of the people the NHS serves.0 -
And we all have different shares according to how much we have paid in? Makes you wonder why rich people have private healthcare, the NHS must be at the beck and call of their largest stakeholders!0

You are misreading my post. I think you are referring to the post I quoted from 'Clemmatis' "Yes. we all own the NHS". Although I quoted it doesn't necessarily mean I agree with it or not? Call it sitting on the fence if you like.
However, I was pointing out where the money came from to fund the NHS which worries me slightly as all the tax payers on here will now be harping on about how 'people on benefits don't have the right to use the NHS as they don't pay their taxes'. That will start up another whole new debate!
The NHS is there for all of us regardless.0 -
I usually call the GP surgery for a fit note, but only if I have been off work because of problems related to my disability.
I've had the same GP for the last 14 years. He knows my case inside and out and knows that if I'm off work for a period that requires a sick note it is due to the pain and swelling in my leg, and the likelyhood is that I am having considerable problems walking, in which case forcing me to come to the surgery for the simple matter of a fit note does nothing to help my condition improve.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

GP's work for us!! Brilliant. I would love to be a fly on the wall when this sort of discussion takes place. Next it would be we own the Queen!0
