hi yes i did know it was a non refundable/changeable room that's why i asked in my original post about selling it on and if charges could still be made to my card that i originally booked with (but no longer have) incase the buyer sets off smoke alarm or damages rooms ie will they have to show their own card for any such charges but thanks for your input;) cheersIt cant hurt, if they wont budge on changing to the next night, it may be worth asking for a discounted price, saying you have already paid X.
I assume that you did know when you booked that it was an offer price and non changeable/refundable etc0 -

Oh yes forgot you had asked that.
I sold a non refundable room once and had no comebacks, but I guess there is always a risk, if the room is already paid for, they may not need to show a card on arrival
On the flip side if you dont have the card that the room is booked on, could they still charge you...sorry I dont know the answer0 -
Don't sell it on.
The terms will be non refundable and non transferable.
I agree with the poster earlier who states that hotels do offer cheap rates just like airlines, but if you opt for the cheaper price, you take the risk that you lose your money if something goes wrong like this. Personally I tend to book flexible rates for hotels and pay more, but that is a choice matter.
As it is, you are relying now on the hotel's good will. It is not an automatic thing that they will resell the rooms either at Easter (I work at an airport hotel!). Dont call and ask for the hotel manager either. Either ring and get his/her name and email and send a short polite email and asking if they could be flexible on this occasion, or try the same thing with the on property reservations manager. If you get the central res office, they are less likely to flex (they get calls all day every day like this, so will need to be tougher on the terms and conditions)
Edit: you dont say who you booked via, either agent or direct with hotel group? Direct is better under these circs of course.0 -
Because there is only one hotel in Gatwick airport - the Sofitel.
I see no reason why the hotel wouldn't change the booking this far in advance. They won't suffer any loss.
There are loads of hotels within a quick bus shuttle ride of the airport. I have stayed there several times and the one which I use definitely gives no refunds.0 -
Who are your flights with? It may be worth complaining to the airline that you had pre booked the rooms on this basis and are now stuck. They may be able to help (unless its Ryanair :-))0

Not true, not a minutes walk from the Sofitel is Gatwick premier inn, which is just as convenient and far cheaper.Because there is only one hotel in Gatwick airport - the Sofitel.
