Hi basically i've got 3 rooms booked and fully paid for at a gatwick airport hotel during easter holls for an overnight stay on return from holiday problem is my flight has now been changed:mad: so arriving back a day later rang hotel to explain but nothing they can do so rooms are useless to me now! i was going to sell these on but i'm worried incase of any damage charges by the person who stays, I don't have the original card i paid with anymore so will the person who stays have to give their card as a security? just i read on here about someone who got their card charged because the person who stayed set the fire alarm off:eek: any advice would be greatly appreciated guys:beer:

I'm perplexed as to why the hotel can do nothing. I know this hotel and they are usually very up front. Easter is months away so the most you should lose is a deposit on the rooms, not the whole cost.
That's my opinion anyway.0 -

How do you know which hotel it is?
If the rate booked was a non felixible fixed rate, paid up front for a cheaper price, why are you perplexed0 -

Because there is only one hotel in Gatwick airport - the Sofitel.
I see no reason why the hotel wouldn't change the booking this far in advance. They won't suffer any loss.0 -

It may be the sofitel, but to me, A gatwick airport hotel is any hotel within a few miles of the airport, and some have upfront prepay rates, not sure if the sofitel does, but if it does, why do you think they shouldnt stick to any non changeable/non refundable terms, if indeed that is the case0 -

That may indeed be the case. So then my guess would have been wrong eh?
My advice would be the same though. In my view there is an argument for simply switching the booking to another night. If a booking clerk failed to do so I'd be speaking to the general manager and appealing to his sense of fair play in exchange for a promise of loyalty to the brand. Given the time to Easter he'd be sure of selling the rooms.0 -

I would be doing the same, but i wouldnt complain if they didnt move from their t and c, if that is the case, as there is no more input from the OP0 -

I would complain because to me it would be the fair thing to do. T&C are not written in stone and the GM has the power to override them as long as it doesn't constitute an abuse of statute.
OP might be back so he'll have opinion to read and he/she can make up his/her own mind.0 -
Hi thanks for the reply's guys it isn't the sofitel, i've rung them several times hoping to get someone nice :)but they just say as it is an offer price they cannot change it to the following day if I ring the hotel again should i straight off ask to speak to the general manager?0

It cant hurt, if they wont budge on changing to the next night, it may be worth asking for a discounted price, saying you have already paid X.
I assume that you did know when you booked that it was an offer price and non changeable/refundable etc0 -

I accept they are not set in stone but if they were to amend every non changeable booking, we could all book at the cheap price and then change away without paying the fully flexible price0
