The good news from my understanding is that anyone working for 12 months prior will also be exempt, so it gives those who lose their jobs unexpectedly time to find new employment which I thought was a great caveat.

As has been pointed out on the other thread, most of the affected benefits also go to people in work.

People earring up to the cap, are the exception, rather than the norm. The cap includes housing benefit / LHA so the people most affected with be people living in areas of great housing shortage and high rents.

Londoners will be hit the worse as in many cases the vast proportion will be needed to cover rent.

Not relevant as workers (Even PT on NMW) are exempt from the cap. It only applies to none workers.

I have just 'thanked' you for what you have said on the other thread too!

I think this has been the whole crux of the matter on these threads with regards to the issue of claiming benefits.

There is a misconception by 'tax payers' that benefits are claimed only by people who live in social housing and do not work!

But it has no relevance to the cap when it doen't apply if working. It's all part of the working *cough* pays agenda.

Work PT you get them back

Now that is just taking the proverbial isn't it?

Our household income is half of that with 2 working.

Well it seems you have a choice, get better paid jobs as we're always being told there are loads available, or, go on benefits and see how well off you are.

My apologies. It's the capped rise of 1% that will apply to workers also

"Some 60% of the people who will lose out as a result of this bill are in work"

the knee-jerk benefit-claimant bashing and bitter jealousy shown here by workers (I suppose), some of whom claim benefits, by of people who, if they go cap in hand to the state, and have children, can get, God in Heaven, £26,000 a year got to me.

Then why not help out lower paid workers instead?
