    Pretty good answer Scotty.

But the fuel consumption of my 1969 Rover P5b somewhat cancels out the free road tax.
But having said that... depreciation is £0.

I do a lot of motorway driving but like everyone else, I want to save save save on the costs. As all cars in road tax Band B cost only £35 a year to tax, I was trying to find the most powerful car in that group. It has to be a diesel for it to be economical too.

The two that I found are the Clio or Megane 1.5 Dci 100bhp. Any advance on that???

I take it you mean the most powerful car that will do 70 mph ie. the legal speed limit?

if you are at all interested in the environment then do not buy a hybrid!!!!! the manufacture and disposal of their stupid batteries and electronics creates huge environmental destruction!!!

anyway, for cheap tax but powerful, any imported car has a flat rate maximum tax of something like 100 pounds a year, so buy an imported mustang or challenger and live the v8!

Its worth remembering that a lot of the low tax cars with diesel engines are fitted with DPF filters in the exhaust systems. These clog up if the car is only used for short journeys
