I probably should have added 2 points.
1/- When I say a "rent" it would be a small amount like £100/200 a month. I see it like a compensation for the interests. (And if everything goes well, we would probably buy sthg together in 3/4 years...)
2/- If that makes any difference, he earns more than 2,5 times my wage, and woud pay a biggeeeeerrrrr part of rent if we rented together.
And Melissa, if things go wrong, keep me a place in the woman refuge !!0 -

100/200 isn't unreasonable, but I would be struggling to understand if he insists on calling it rent. How abouts you say that you will put 100-200 in to the bills, or buy the groceries?
It just seems a little bit odd that is all.

Is there any reason you couldn't buy together? You could buy as tenants in common with a 70/30 split? That way you both would own part of the house that you each afford. If the relationship goes south, bf could buy you out or you could sell. You would then have equal risk in the housing market.0
