New Multifuel Stove Fitted

Skulls, so good to hear from some one else so pleased with their burner, I thought I was being a little odd..... :-)
I have multi fuels in the kitchen and sitting room. I'm buying in kiln dried wood (long story), so they are not particularly cheap to run, but they are so much more efficient than leaving the CH to heat the whole house.

I'm running mine on Heatlogs at the moment, £290/ton delivered. This load should last me this winter, I have bought £20 worth of good seasoned logs just for Christmas, to stack either side of the fire, looked so nice.
Even in the cold spell before Christmas/mid Dec I only used about 8 Heatlogs/day. For some reason my new log burner doesn't like wood logs until the flue is warm! Even the logs, last about 2 hours each, roughly half kilo in weight.
Even if the Heatlogs work out a bit dearer, it's so much easier stacking boxes than logs! They do have an offer on seconds but, they are in bags, I might as well buy wood logs that work out even cheaper. It's not too MS but the boxes are stacked 15 high in the spare bedroom, 60 in total!
The spare bedroom is behind the wall with the squiggly mirrors and is 6ft. from my front door.0 -
Blimey if that massive telly was above my stove it would have melted years ago !!!0

Is that an ecofan in front of the flue pipe? If so you may well end up cooking it there - they're supposed to be able to draw cooler air up from the back of the stove and over those fancy fins. As far as I know, manufacturers won't honour the warranty on a cooked one. Just so ya know!0

As far as comparing manufactured briquettes with logs goes - have a look at http://www.bridgebrooke.co.uk/hotties-versus-wood-logs.html
You'll see that they often work out a fair bit cheaper in real terms - and of course there's no wondering whether they'll be dry or not, or how many you'll get. Log deliveries can vary a lot depending on the container they come in, how they're stacked etc etc.
If you want to try the Hotties - drop me a line and I'll sort you out at factory prices!0 -

It took a few months of testing but, with the Ecofan where it is the TV gets only slightly warmer than anywhere else and saves wasting another wall. I'm actually thinking of lowering it by about 6 inches.0 -

Thanks for the offer, I've tried Hotties and they are good but, don't flame for long! They do last a long time but I went for a ton pallet of UK Heatlogs back in November. Given the choice a cross between a Heatlog and a Hottie would be perfect.
As for the logs, I get some great seasoned logs from a local guy but, have to pick up myself. The logs are Hornbeam seasoned for 2 years as cord wood, then cut to size and seasoned for a further year. I pay £4 for a 75 litre bag, which is roughly 20-24 logs. In the above picture there are 2.5 bags either side of the fire and each side lasts a week-10 days.
I've tried the Ecofan left of, right of and in front of the flue and I get the same results each time! The TV feels warm to touch but no where near hot. I used to have an oil painting there and nothing happened to that. The flue is quite a bit cooler with the Burley than my old Villager log burner.0 -

How old is it hethmar - and is it a genuine one? If it's less than a year old, go to the Caframo website and fill your details in and chances are they'll send you a new motor post free from the States. Talked to two or three people who've tried this and got new motors which have solved the problem when they've been cooked.0

I love my multifuel burner - a lot of money to out lay but love it! Mine heats all the water and all the rads in the house as well so has definitely saved me a small fortune!0
