Exchange is fibre enabled, but my line isn't?

Basil, that website tells me the same as the document I was reffering to earlier. That there were 2 cabinets covering 99% of my postcode deployed for FTTP in Dec 2011. Which leads me to another question that iniltous has part answered. I now know what it stands for, but what exactly does FTTP mean?
FTTP is where a fibre optic cable is installed to your home, so there is no conventional copper pair cable, (FTTC still has a part copper route from the street cabinet to your home, the fibre is from the exchange to the cab)
FTTP is 'faster' than FTTC , something like 300Mb/sec download compared to 80Mb for FTTC and theoretically can go even faster than that....some areas are BT FTTC and some are where the EU or local councils have provided some or all of the funds to install FTTP ,but Openreach have won the bids to install the infrastructure,on their behalf.
Cornwall is one area where FTTP is available0 -
Seek out ou nearest BT street cabinet, they have a habit of putting a sticker on them when the FTTC is available. Well they do round here.

The stickers are at the discretion of the local council as they are classed as advertising.
I have fibre now (and mighty good it is too :T), but all the new cabinets are stickerless !0 -
Theres no sticker on our street cab either. Indeed, we don't even have a new street cab! Yet we're all fibre enabled.0

In which case the BT OR sticker should be replaced with a Bill Stickers will be prosecuted sticker.:pThat gum you like is coming back in style.0

Just to add more confusion to the matter. I've realised that my neighbour who who can get fibre, only has fibra available on 1 of his 2 phone lines!?0

It all depends which cabinet your line terminates at.
Either way, you can't get fibre if BT have told you that you can't.0 -

To call that advertising is a bit of a stretch. It's quite a useful (if primitive) system for the general public to know that a cabinet is ready.0
