If someone who is not on benefits loses their wallet, who would they expect to bail them out? Just wondering why the OP presumes he is *entitled* to have his loss made up. Sometimes bad luck happens.

I agree with this, with the caveat however, that those not on benefits might be more likely to have another line of help, in particular credit cards, savings etc.

The only think that grated on me about the OP's post was the 'lol' ,which seems inappropriate to me for someone who is supposedly desperate because they have lost all their money.

I am also really sick of seeing people denigrate those working in the benefits system when they don't get their desired response.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

...To issue a Crisis Loan of £21 for the fortnight seems harsh. .

It's not intended to replace the period the original payment was intended for. There's a maximum daily rate (less than the usual daily level "needed" because it's really an emergency/basic rate) and it will be for the period the need is presented until the day before the next income is due.

Although the money was lost yesterday, it may have been paid for an earlier payday.

Alternatively it could be something like a 10 day period and they're doing 3 days and then a week after that.

That's not normal, but if they know the history of someone, they may split it that way.

Quite often splitting a payment when it's for more than a week, the borrower doesn't return; their first payment having [STRIKE]paid for their hit[/STRIKE] lessened the crisis.

No wonder the police are overstretched and not responding to crimes - they're too busy wasting time and money dealing with lost items!

I'd love to see my employer's face if I told him I'd lost my entire months wage and would very much like a replacement sum please!
