I think you can apply for a crisis loan in a situation like this
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
  • If I found a wallet in the street I would either take it to the bank where the bank card was from or the local police station, whichever was closest. It's worth calling either place in case it's been handed in. You will need to speak to your bank anyway to cancel the bank card. I hope there was nothing sentimental in the wallet - photos, etc, are the worst things to lose. Fingers crossed a kind soul has handed it in.

It's because so many people spend their money then claim they have lost it to get a bit more (not saying that is your case by the way) did you report it to the police? If so you should have got a crime number which you could show, or quote to the DWP, although that's not really proof as anyone could go into the cop shop and say they have lost a wallet just to get a crime number.

They will only give you a small percentage of your entitlement, they never give the full amount.

They have offered you a loan of £21? What else do you want them to do, they didn't lose your wallet.

Methinks someone's fishing for cash. :(
  • One other thing that the crisis loan people might be thinking is that people with bipolar often have erratic spending habits, especially during manic phases. It is textbook for your condition I'm afraid. So they do have to bear in mind that it is very possible you have just gone and spent the money, especially if you haven't reported your wallet as lost and cancelled your bank cards...
